My DD is 10 wks old and I am wondering what are some good games to play with her while she is awake? Sometimes I know she is just nursing outa bordem or just to pacify herself. (she WONT take a pacifier) Her doc said to try and entertain her in between meals so she doesnt nurse more than once an hour. He said she will get in the habit of just snacking all day and its better for her to eat bigger portions less frequently. Any ideas?

I'm not convinced that a 10-week old would nurse out of boredom (pacify herself, maybe, but I personally don't see anything wrong with that).  But the suggestions you received for play are good, imo.  I spend a lot of time talking to my baby (now 4 months old)--making faces, telling stories, changing my voice, etc.

Dvd's at 10 weeks? Is that healthy?? I have read about flicker rates on t.v.'s being linked with add or adhd and it makes a lot of sense. Also I would really rather not get (me or her) used to sticking her in front of a t.v. to occupy her. Not trying to imply this is what u do with ur child, I just wasnt even aware they made dvd's for babies so young.

Agie-I dont think there is anything wrong with letting her nurse to pacify either, its just that SOMETIMES I need 10-15 minutes to wash dishes/brush teeth/BREATHE! I mean, does anyone else ever feel like a milk cow?? lol...I am a stay at home mommy and am totally committed to nurturing this child with whatever she needs for as long as she needs no matter what I have to sacrifice. I am just mostly concerned with what her doc said about portion size. Anyway, thanks guys and keep the suggestions coming!!
