Activity during early pg

This may be a silly question but what would this forum be if not built on "silly" questions? Ok, Today was my first day doing housework after I found out I was pg. I am scared to death! I feel like everything thing I do is going to lead to mc. I know this sounds rediculous. The week I had my mc I had cleaned heavily on Monday, found out Thursday I lost the baby. It isn't related to the cleaning. But I just feel like I don't want to do too much. What exactly is too much? What have you ladies done as far as cleaning and activity when you found out you were pg, especially after a mc? Just need some reassurance or advice I guess. Thanks ladies.

My doc always told me just keep doing what you did before you were pg.  Just make sure you dont start doing anything new.  Dont lift anything too heavy!  Like I know for me, when I was pg (my washer and dryer are BOTH downstairs) I had DH carry the laundry down and back up for me!!  Or I would just push it down the steps in the basket! LOL!!  Anyway - Just try not to overdo it but it should be ok to do normal housework.

STICKY BABY DUST SWEETIE!!!

I DIDN'T STOP DOING ANYTHING EXCEPT LIFTING.  AND NOW I AM 32 WEEKS PG AND I STILL FROM TIME TO TIME CARRY SMALL LOADS OF LAUNDRY UP THE STEPS.  I AM KIND OF A BUSY BODY SO I CANNOT STAND FOR THINGS TO BE DONE OR TO WAIT FOR DH TO GET AROUND TO IT.  I ALSO DO NOT DO CAT LITTER AND SUCH THINGS AS CLEANING CEILING FANS THE REQUIRE STANDING ON A CHAIR OR LADDER.  MAKE SURE NOT TOO USE TOO HARSH OF CLEANERS EITHER.

There is an old saying "you can't shake a good egg loose" Watch the fumes if you are using cleaners, watch the overexertion, other than that you should be fine. I would love it if I could get away without ever lifting a finger while pg, unfortunately, my dh and kids would never go for it,lol!!

Thank you ladies for your quick responses. I was getting a bit crampy earlier when I was dusting and reaching and all that fun stuff. I just got nervous I guess. I know cramps are normal during early pg, but you know how it is.....worry worry worry. Thanks again for your speedy replies :o)

When I was prego I made DH do all cleaning with chemicals..but I was a worry wart even before my m/c.  But in the books it says just to make sure it is well venilated.  I am SO happy for you!!!

Believe me you will be worrying the WHOLE TIME about one thing or another.  Atleast I know I did.  Good luck to you.

Andi:  I like that saying.  That is cute and very true!!!

I actually bought face masks and rubber gloves as soon as I found out I was pg again. My goodness, you would have thought I was cleaning up toxic waste or something, but I was so worried too after a previous m/c. I agree though, if it a healthy pregnancy from the start, there's really not much in our daily lives that will disrupt it. I still ask my dh to do anything that I just don't feel comfortable doing though. Even if it seems irrational, sometimes its better for me to have dh do it than to deal with the worrying all day.

I was exactly the same I done a lot of housework then miscarried a few days later but know it wasnt the reason I miscarried was just coincidence. You will relax once you get past the time you miscarried last I stressed until I got to 13 weeks which was only the other day. I remember you miscarried and saw fetus just like me but this time is going to be different just be positive.
Congratulations and Good luck

I LOVE those wipes, too ; ) I buy the Kirkland brand to save some money, but I use them everywhere.

I also love Clorox Clean-Up, Lysol Tub and Basin, and Scrubbing Bubbles. I use the clorox drop ins for the toilet, that helps keep the scrubbing down a bit.

My dh usually does the heavy lifting for me anyways as I have a bad back. We have a house, but our basement only has outside entry and is ground level, so that means going outside and down a flight of stairs as well.

My dh is a worry wart about a lot of things. I lightened my hair recently for summer and he flipped out. I reminded him that it was safe, I was given the go ahead by the doc, and that I was opening the bathroom window, turning on the exhaust fan, and leaving the door open for extra ventilation.

Heck, he freaked out last night when he woke up and saw I was sleeping on my stomach (I'll be 18 weeks on Friday) We have a 4 inch thick memory foam thing on the bed, so it literally envelopes my belly and I am usually resting more off to the side on one hip.

Oh men! They are sooo cute :o) DH makes me laugh....I was in the bathroom alittle longer than normal I guess one day, he barged in to make sure I was alright. Last night I guess I sighed in my sleep, he woke up, woke me up, and was asking me if everything was alright. What would we do without them???  :o)

I find myself wondering the same things at times. I love him dearly, but he can drive me batty!! My mom drove me nuts right after I had my son, I swear I coulnd't get up to get a glass of water without her hovering.

I feel like yelling "I'm pregnant, not disabled!!"

I did some dusting and vaccuuming today, emptied the dishwasher, climbed on a step stool a few times. DH is going to clean the tub when he gets home, that was his idea....what a husband :o) As far as laundry and things, I think I will be ok carrying the baskets up and down the steps. We are in an appt building so there is two flights to the machines. If it becomes too much, DH has emphasized time and time again that is will do whatever I need him to. He wants everything to be ok as much as I do. What type of cleaning products is everyone comfortable using? I usually use bleach and commet, in the bathroom especially. I think that is going to be DHs designated area :o) Other than that, I have become a huge huge fan of the wipes (CLOROX and LYSOL). Don't know what I would do with out them.

I wish my dh was like that. He is so clueless about what his role in the pg is...TAKING CARE OF ME, and helping w/ the girls! When I was in labor last time I panicked because I found out I couldn't have the epidural and he was like "I don't see why she's being so negative!" My sister about slapped him! I do everything! He told me not to wash the tub w/ bleach, but he wouldn't do it! I had all the windows open, don't worry!

In the beginning my husband would just have a cow if I asked him to do something.  I mean he would be fine doing the things like lifting and cat litter that are an absolute no no, but when I ask him to patty the hamburgers he would just get upset.  I think he felt used.  But then he realized it was better than listening to me complain all night about ecoli or whatever.  I am a nail biter and do not realize when I do it.  So I won't touch hardly anything...lol.  He now does everything with out being asked.  He cooks now too because I obsess over wether it is cooked properly or not. He is a big help now, but I could never get away with not doing the cleaning or the laundry especially since I work from home and I am here all day.  I have also continued working doing massages.  I am in the best shape I have been in and I hope this helps for a smoother delivery.  I never stopped and I am 32 weeks have only gained 5lbs and haven't had any swelling or anything.  If you stop doing everything it seems like things get worse.  This is just my experinece.
