Allergy Medication & Pregnancy

by jessica_n_walker, Apr 18, 2008 09:55AM
My daughter is 16 years old and 10 weeks pregnant.  She has very bad allergies/sinus problems this time of the year.  She normaly takes Poly Hist Forte for her allergies which provides the relief that she needs.  Is it OK for her to continue to take it?  I have not given her any medication since we found that she is pregnant.  If she can't take her normal medication, what can she take?

I would have her call her doctor.

I did.  She doesn't trust him.  I am looking for a new OBGYN.

That sounds like a good idea if there is reason not to trust the practice that she was going to. Good luck!

Try contacting an allergist.  I had one during my pregnancy and I was still able to get my shots and use Rhinocort instead of nasacort.  There are substitutions.  I know Allegra was a level C drug.  I haven't heard of the medication she is taking.

www.motherrisk.com is a great source of what is safe in pregnancy.
