Allison Taylor is here!

Allison Taylor is here!

Sorry it took me so long to fill you girls in, but my little Allison was born last Thursday at 2:38PM. It was a very fast labor and delivery. I went to the hospital at 11AM and had her at 2:38PM. I pushed for 15min and there she was!
BUT...she has been in the NICU since then.
She has a fractured collar bone (prob. from birth), a paralyzed vocal cord (not sure if she was born like that or if they put the tube down the wrong pipe when born, as she was not giving a normal cry..so they had to suction her in the NICU. Her thyroid is also displaced...but nothing to worry about there...and she was jaundice(which is very common) AND...she is taking a while to master the Suck Swallow Breathe and fluid is going in her lungs so we have to thicken my breast milk..which seems to be working.
She is coming home 'tomorrow' (so they say) and will be on a heart monitor so we can watch her during feedings. My nursing is going to be set aside for now...but i am pumping and she is getting 'the good stuff'...

So that is our story. Thank goodness we live close to our hospital and my dh and I have been there for the 9am-6pm feedings. We feel like that is good bonding time since she is not home with us yet.

So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Now we have to work on getting our 18mth old ready for her sister!

Congrats and I love the name you picked out.  Sorry Allison is going through a hard time but I am sure she will be fine before you know it, sounds like she has great parents.

Good Luck Tomorrow.

Congrats on your little one! Sorry to hear she has had it so rough so far. I hope she is better soon and home with you. I hope you are feeling better soon as well. I also had really short labors w/ my girls. 3hr15min w/ my first, 3 1/2 hours w/ my second. Good luck w/ everything!

Aww, congrats.  I hope the little angel's feeling better soon.  How many weeks was she (sorry, I can't recall).  I haven't seen you on for a while and was wondering if you had her.  All the best to all of you.  Getting my DD for the new addition is also one of my concerns.  I heard that it's normal for them to be scared of the crying baby at first so i guess just keep reassuring the big sister that it's ok.  Pretty soon she'll be getting your the diapers and bottles ;)

My DD had a broken collarbone when born, too. It's actually more common than we think, according to the peds who saw her in the hospital! She didn't have to stay in the NICU, though. Was your baby premature?

Congrats on her birth!!!

I just looked up her last post (jjerzee) and it looks like she was 37 weeks on 1/27/08.  Last Thursday was Jan 31st so that makes her 37.4 weeks.  Hope she can correct me if I'm wrong with my calculations :)

I am so very happy for you - sorry things are a little rough in the beginning, but it will all work out.  We had Brodie in the NICU for a little over a week and did the same feedings as you almost ( 9am - 9 pm) and we skipped the overnights.  Every time you can be there means the world to her and I know it made me feel better.

Hang in there and my thoughts and prayers are with you - hope she comes home tomorrow!!  We'll keep our fingers crossed.
