Almost 15 weeks and no weight gain

Almost 15 weeks and no weight gain

So far in this pregnancy I have lost somewhere between 6-8 pounds.  That's not a huge surprise b/c I had a couple of rough weeks there with m/s.  My apetite has been pretty normal for the past two weeks, but I still haven't gained any weight.  I'm about 20 pounds overweight anyway, so this isn't a huge issue.  I'm just wondering if I should be concerned b/c I thought I would have at least gained a pound or 2 by now.  Do some women just gain weight really slowly?  What are your experiences with weight gain or lack of during pregnancy?

With my first I didn't gain any weight until about 20 weeks, but then after that, I gained a lot of weight quickly!  It didn't help that towards the end I had toximia and was huge.  Hope that doesn't happen to you.

With my 2nd, I can't remember when I gained weight, I'm sure it wasn't until later on as well.  Although, I didn't have toximia with this one.  I was sooo happy.

If you are concerned, you can ask your obg, but I wouldn't be concerned at all.  When you go in for your apt if your obg has a concern, they'd let you know.

Good luck!

Wow! 20 weeks, huh?  I see my midwife next Tuesday so I'm sure she'll let me know if she's concerned.  We heard the HB two weeks ago so I assume everything is going fine.  Thanks for your response!

I am jealous. I am still in the first trimester and have gained 4 lbs already.

Don't be jealous.  It's just one more thing to worry about!  Also, now that your m/s has kicked in don't count on holding on to those 4 pounds. :)  That's what made me lose weight in the first place.

Ugh, I dread the evenings. That is when mine hits the hardest. I never realized how much someone could throw up. To top it off I usually tinkle on myself at the same time. It does not matter that I just went pee or not. It just comes right on out. DH laughs at me. Big jerk!!!

WOW, I have gained 20 lbs and I am 23 weekd tomorrow. I guess it didn't help that I had no morning sickness. I am going to start watching my weight now. I eat too much sweet stuff.

With my first, i started out gaining a few pounds, lost 20 in my fourth month and didn't gain another ounce until my 3rd trimester. With my second, I didn't gain an ounce until the last trimester. This time around I have gained 10 lbs and am 19 weeks. My doc laughed when I freaked out about gaining 10 lbs, I am still in my regular jeans. I swear all 10 went to my chin and breasts!!

As long as the baby's doing ok, I wouldn't give it a moment's thought. With DD I gained more weight than I thought was humanly possible! LOL! And with this baby at 20 weeks I've lost 10 lbs.

I've always been overweight - although I'm fit physically and when I had my daughter I didn't gain 1lb until I was 8 months pregnant! I gained nearly a stone in the last 5 weeks (as i went a week over) and she was born a healthy 7lb 4oz baby. Not big but certainly not small :) just right ;)

So.. as long as you eat healthy and don't deny yourself food there's no need to worry.

((hugs)) Jane

I lost 2 pounds my first trimester, which really surprised me, I thought I lost more than that because I felt like I could barely eat anything due to m/s. At 16 weeks I had only gained about 2 pounds from my original weight. I go in tomorrow for the 20 week u/s so we'll see how much I gained this time.
I think the sweet stuff is what gets us. I always get a really grose taste in my mouth after I eat sweet stuff now, so I've really cut almost all desserts out of my diet, maybe that's nature's way of helping me not gain too much weight. We'll have to wait and see.

Some people, esp. those who started a little high, just gain later. This is okay, as long as your ultrasounds look good.

Thanks so much, ladies.  That really helps put my mind at ease. I just got off the phone with my grandma and she told me my cousin didn't put on any weight until her 6 month.  Maybe it runs in the family.  Beleive me, as long as everything else is going OK, I'm glad to not be one that just piles it all on right away!

When i was pregnant i didn't gain hardly any weight for the first like 7 months i didn't look pregnant at all. From day one til the very end i gained like 26lbs and gained most of it the last 2.5 months. And being over weight like myself you tend to not gain as much weight which i think is a good thing. Once i had my baby i lost 100% of my weight over night. But don't worry about gaining weight if its bad your doctor will let you know and help you figure out why our not and help you to gain weight. Be lucky you haven't yet alot of women gain alot of weight and have a hard time losing it at the end
