Am I having twins?

Am I having twins?

Hello everyone!

My first hcg level at 13 DPO was 41, repeat at 20 DPO was 960 - another repeat at 22 DPO was 2190. These seem kind of high for being only 4wk 5dys along. Does anyone think it could be twins?

here are some levels and info i found online for you.
* 0-1 week: 0-50 mIU/ml
* 1-2 weeks: 40-300 mIU/ml
* 3-4 weeks: 500-6,000 mIU/ml
* 1-2 months: 5,000-200,000 mIU/ml
* 2-3 months: 10,000-100,000 mIU/ml
* 2nd trimester: 3,000-50,000 mIU/ml
* 3rd trimester: 1,000-50,000 mIU/ml
* Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
* Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

Abnormal Numbers
An HCG level that increases but is less than double the previous one is considered abnormal and suspicious of an ectopic pregnancy.  Pregnancies that are both low in level and slow to rise are almost certain to fail.  Singleton and
vanishing twin pregnancies have a wide range of acceptable HCG levels on a given day.

Twins or Higher Pregnancies
Twin pregnancies tend to show higher HCG levels on a given day of pregnancy.  Twin HCG levels fall within the reported range of singletons, so, you can't assume anything based on the level alone.  A higher level on a given day does increase your chances for twins, but there's no level above which you're guaranteed twins.

Your HCG Levels
Check with your physician about your own levels.  In addition, do not try to draw conclusions on either the viability of your fetus or the possibility of multiples, unless youhave a series of HCG tests done that clearly indicate a pattern.

Hi, if you click on "search site" above and then type in "twins+HCG" or just "twins HCG," you should get seven or eight of this question that have been filed in the archives.  The answers to the last four or five are pretty good.  I hope you get what you want!

What about size? If you were having twins would your ob know before the first ultra sound from measuring the womb? I have no reason to suspect really, but sometimes wonder.

I haven't been to the ob yet. I have an appointment set up for next week. I'm gonna ask them to do an u/s because twins run in my family and my husbands, not to mention that this is my 4th child (my 8th pregnancy) and I am over 35. I have been really tired and I'm eating like crazy. I'm just curious.

If you read on these forums in the archives, there are a lot of stories of people who panicked themselves by getting an u/s too early and not seeing anything.  See if the doctor will schedule you for one in a couple of weeks.  Some of the ladies say they saw something on the u/s at 6 weeks, some say they didn't until week 7.  Good luck!

Hi, well, in my case, the doc won't know by size because my first u/s will be only about 7 weeks from conception, and I think the embryo is only about the size of the apostrope in "wouldn't" by then. :)  If the first u/s is much later, of course that would be different.

This is my fourth pregnancy and I have been very sick and tired from the beginning. I had a positive pregnancy test 6 days before I was expected to start. My father is a twin and my sister has twin girls. I have been dreaming about having more than one but have yet to go to the dr. I am 8 weeks along and just super anxious. Can anyone help to see if my symptoms and suspecions are normal and possible?
