Am I hurting my baby?

Am I hurting my baby?

I'm 8 wks pregnant and have really bad nausea. I can't eat or drink anything and everything I do try makes me so sick. Right now all I can stand to eat is Honey Bunches of Oats or Frosted Mini wheat cereal w/ milk. I eat this morning ,noon and night. I try to eat other things but only take a bit or two then my stomach turns. I even have difficulty taking my prenatal vitamins. I'm down to taking them every other day.
The last time I had a good meal was sunday my hubby made pork chops w/ mashed potatoes and it was good and went down good. The next day he barbequed meat and check w/ mexican rice .. yuck! i barely touched and i usually love barbeque. To my sis made me french toast and i only took two bites. Then my hubby brought me home a salad i only ate the cucumbers and a few bites of the carrots. I'm also doing ok with the preggy pops they help a little but don't help w/ the taste of food.. Am I hurting my baby?.

Hi there, I will be 8w tomorrow. We are in the same boat so I am glad that you asked this question. I've been able to eat a lot of fruits and keep them down. My doctor wrote me a prescription to help but haven't got it filled yet.

What did the doctor say about taking the med to help with the nausea? I was trying to do this with no meds but am at the end of my rope and am thinking of calling my dr tomorrow. .. Sure does look like we are on the same boat. My name is also similar to yours ... Christine ;)

She said that I don't have to suffer threw this pregnancy and that I need to Listen to my body and eat what it wants but with limitations.

I do have to admit that feeling this way is a big reassurance but I have to be able to eat and stay healthy. I lost 3 pounds last week.

She prescribed two meds and said that they both work together to help m/s. They are Zantac 150mg and Reglan 10mg.
I'm going to try to wait a little longer without them but not sure how much longer.

Merry Christmas to y'all,
Christie

I am at nine weeks, and I too have had a difficult time eating since everything turns my stomach. However, I have realized that if I eat about every hour, I actually feel a lot better by the afternoon and can have several decent hours. I would definitely recommend eating (even though it tastes horrible and makes you sick) every hour ... try to force a bowl of cereal or something down and by afternoon you should be able to eat something else.

I am not a big fan of popcorn at all, but I have realized that popcorn is actually one of the things that tides me over the longest (strange I know since it is not filling at all).

One of my biggest problems is that I go too long in between meals and then have a hard time catching up. Try to get canned fruit cups (peaches work well for me) and snack on those or some other type of snack every half hour or so. I wish you guys the best. Only a couple more weeks and we should be able to function again! ;0)

Spices -- early in pregnancy, chili spice in anything made me queasy but curry spice in things tasted great to me.  So you never know.

No you are not hurting your baby.  Eat what you can tolerate, hopefully your nausea will diminish soon and you can eat a more balanced diet.  The baby takes whatever it needs and leaves you the rest.

you are not hurting your baby.  Many pregnancies go on long and healthy with this problem.. The one thing i would recommend is to make sure you drink.  drink as much water as you can.  If you get dehydrated then you CAN hurt your baby and end up in the hospital.  Water is very important.  If you cant handle water then drink any clear non caffinated drinks such as juices and clear soda's.  (not diet)  The water will help keep the stomach acid down and also keep your blood volume healthy to support the pregnancy.

WATER

WATER!!

I hope you feel better soon!! Congrats on your pregnancy..

i was told by my doc to keep crackers by my bedside and eat a few before i ever got out of bed.  i agree to eat often-i was told nausea happens when you are too hungry or too full. i also read a lemon drop candy before meals would help and my sis swears by the acupuncture wristbands you can find cheap at a lot of stores.  Good luck to you, sorry to hear about nausea, but happy all is going well!  one more thing-doc told me you eat what you can and baby will be fine!

Hi. Ohhh I dont envy you!  I hated feeling like that.  But I have to tell you, now that I'm in my 20th week, it was like a memory and it does get better.  I ate anything that made me feel better.  Lots of carbs.  Bread, noodles, bagels.  Do what makes you feel better.
But I have to tell you that I think you HAVE to take your prenatals.  I'll tell you why. I stopped taking them because they made me sick.  Then one day I went the dr. (at my 8th week appointment) and the dr. said he/she was measuring 1 week small.    I felt so bad that I took them all the time no matter what.  Next u/s he was measuring just fine.  The dr. never knew I stopped taking them so there is no sure way of knowing that that is the reason why the baby was small. But I know in my heart that it was.  Please try to take them if you can.
