Ankle Hurting

I just bought my son some new shoes and now he is complaing that his ankles are hurting.  But he had a pair just like them not too long ago.  Can shoes affect his ankles or just his feet?  If so what kind of shoes do you suggest for ankle support?

Children don't need shoes for ankle support,  that was a myth created by those people who sold those adorable classic white leather children's "walking" shoes.

The best shoes for children are soft and flexible and grippy.  Something that gives the child traction but are light and comfortable and flexible to wear.

Are the shoes you bought him the kind that come up around his ankles?

My son went for a walk with my husband and kept complaining of ankle pain and foot pain.  Got home and found out that the shoes had rubbed him raw in the ankles, he just didn't have the vocabulary to say that was what is going on.  I wouldn't put a child in high-ankle shoes, just something that supports the bottom of his foot and stays on.  Good luck!
