Another quesiton - this time about iron supplements

After the results from my diabetes test came back, the doctor said I was slightly anemic which is really common at this point.  He suggested an over the counter iron supplement and he gave me several names.  I went with Slow FE.  Anyway, it is tearing my stomach up.  I know iron can cause constipation, but it is working just the opposite on me.  I take it at night the next morning I have bad stomach cramps and diarhea (diarrhea) 2-3 times before feeling better. I have only been taking it every other night, but I still feel bad.  Any suggestions?  My iron level was not very low (10.5 and he likes it to be 12).

you can eat alot of things that are high in iron content. beans, red meat, green leafy vegetables, peanut butter etc. then maybe you can add enough naturally to not need the supplements.

I wouldn't take it, like chellybeans said you can get a lot of iron in your diet. Mine was around 11 and they said that was okay. I don't think it's worth those symptoms on top of the late pregnancy issues we already have!

I would mabye try eating alot of high iron foods You can also cook with cast iron cookware that will put extra iron in your food. Plus it is supposed to be ome of the safest things to cook with. I bought some at Walmart.

Here is a weblink regarding that

I was also told I have slightly low iron levels.  I heard that iron supplements do wierd stuff to a person's stools though, so I've never taken supplements.  I try  to eat cereal every day, and the cereals all have 25-50% daily iron intake, and I take my prenatal vitamin which has 104%.
