Antibiotics for the rest of my pregnancy?

Well, I have another UTI so I have been put on macrobid. But when my doctor called me, she said I will have to be on it for the rest of the pregnancy. I will be 20 weeks over the weekend. Has anyone else had to do this? I am worried that it will affect my baby and make him immune to antibiotics, or would it be just this one? If that is the case, that is not all that bad, considering boys don't really get UTI's like women do and this antibiotic is mostly just given for that. Has anybody else had more than one UTI in pregnancy and had to be on antibiotics for the rest of it? I could not believe how big of a bottle of pills it was when I went to get it!!

My friend got a uti at 17 weeks and because of the KIND of uti it is, she has to be on antibiotics for the rest of her pregnancy.  She was kinda worried about that too and asked her regular doctor and ob and they both said it would be fine for the baby and she shouldn't have any immunity problems either.  She has an e coli uti. She is now 36 weeks.  I don't know if that helps you, but good luck!

Yeah, that's what mine is, too. E coli. It's gross!! I don't know HOW that got in there. It's not like I don't know I need to wipe front to back or anything. YUCK! Well, it makes me feel better then that at least one other person was told it's okay for the baby. It just doesn't seem right to be popping a pill every day like that. Thanks for responding!
