Any advise help on dating baby.

by vicky76, Apr 07, 2007 12:00AM
Can any one help or advise please?

My last Af was Jan 5th 07. I got a BFP on Feb the 4th.(29 dc) I had my hcg took on wed the 7th and it was at 97.
I had an early scan( 8wk) where they dated the baby 5-6 days behind?

I have another scan this tue. I should be 13w 4d. What if they put me back at 12w 6d?

How can it be that i had hcg at 97 3 days after my poss, but baby measured smaller on scan?
My dates seem right to me? what do you girls think should i question this if they put my dates back? Thanks

early on, the baby often measures smaller than the dates. this happened to me- she was about a week behind in measurements. by the next appointment she caught up. i knew when i ovulated, so i was sure of my dates. however, if you don't keep track of ovulation, it's also possible you ovulated slghtly later than you thought. the doctor will probably base your due date on what your baby measures at this next visit, although if the difference is less than a week, it's possible they won't change the due date (due date is an estimation anyways)

The due date will probably change a few times before the delivery...but a baby will come when it is ready :) It is frustrating to get various due dates, especially ones that put your EDD later than you thought, but I wouldn't worry about it. And, you could very well be right in your own dates, women often know themselves better than a doc.

My baby always measured a week behind during the first 3-4 months, then at my 5th month scan he measured a week ahead.

He was 4 weeks yesterday, so I wouldn't worry that your  baby's showing a week behind.

Have you seen the baby? Do you see or hear the hb?

My due date changed during my first pregnancy. I was due on the 10th, and Then an u/s at 7 months showed that my daughter was 1 week behind in measurement, so they changed the due date to the 21st. I knew neither of these dates were correct, I figured she would be born around the 14th or 15th, and in fact she was born on the 17th, Mother knows best, lol!..It is not the end of the world if they change your due date, after all, your baby knows exactly when he/she is going to come, exactly when he/she is ready and on time.  I know what you are saying though, I was really annoyed when they changed my Due date, because every one kept asking me when I was due, and I had to tell them over and over that it had changed..

The best they can do is to date your pregnancy within 7 days via early ultrasounds.

Even if you know the exact date and time of conception, you will still deliver within 3 weeks or so of your due date.
