Dear Medhelp,
I'm 25 years old womanWomen's way with irregular cycles. I've been trying to get pregnant for 18 months. I had a miscarriage last June 04, and i've been tring again since then. I've been under Clomid 50mg for 2 cycles now with no results. I'm very desperate. I don't know what to do! are there any chances to get pregnant again since I had a miscarriage before? should I start thinking about invitro?
Thanks a lot for your answer. and please let me know where to find the answer, in my email?
Lara
Thanks a lot for your response!! My Dr. didn't want me to do any further tests, he thinks i'm too young to worry, but I think he is wrong. I have been married for almost 5 years, and i'm under lot of pressure form both my family and my in-laws. Whenver i call them they ask me if it's happening yet. I'm tired of it !(I'm from a mediteranean backround)....
I have done some thyroid tests, and my dr. says that i have some minor pb that shouldn't be an obstacle from preventing me to conceive. I've been under Glucophage for 3 months, to reduce my blood sugar level, and been taking Clomid 50mg for two cycles, unfortunately no results yet!! :(
Do you think i should consult another DR 4 2nd opinion?
I'm wondering if my chances to conceive are higher because i had a miscarriage? or it doesn't have anything to do with it. (My first pregnancy was without Clomid though)
Thanks again for your responses
sincerely,
Lara
I too have a thyroid problem (too low)
Like I said my first was a miscarriage after that pregancy it took two years to concieve I tried clomid too after six months of taking it and recording body temperatures (to find when I was ovulating) I said forget it whatever happens happens I think this took off the stress it was about 2 months later I was pregnant. and then had another 9.5 months later.
Its easy for people to say forget about it but that is what you have to do to relax Your family and inlaws are putting pressure on you and that doesnt help one bit!! It is stress and that affects the whole person. It will happen
Good Luck and tell the family to back off!
you know what...i agree with cinnamon....tell the family that they are probably the reason you aren't getting pregnant...
pressure to 'succeed' like that can actually keep you from getting pregnant!
i don't know if you have heard this before but a lot of people that try for years to become pregnant with no success, when they finally give up and move on with life, that's when they get pregnant.
you are young and your doc is probably right, you got pg once so you know it's possible....relax and maybe take a little holiday with hubby,, just the 2 of you! and most importantly enjoy yourself and your dh.
good luck to you

I'm going to offer the opinion that you should seek out another opinion. While there should be no reason that you can't or won't get pregnant simply because you've had a miscarriage--18 months is a long time to try without a successful pregnancy.
I would ask for a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist. It can't hurt to get some advice from a specialist, especially since you have some complicating factors.
dear cinnamonheart, Thanks again for your responses,it really helps me and makes me feel good about my whole situation. You said you gave up after 2 years of trying hard. My question was: did you stop taking Clomid too? or you continued to take it, eventhough you weren't trying hard.
Did you have to take Clomid in your three pregnancies?
Sincerely,
Lara
first pregnancy was a miscarriage in 1992
then it seems after you lose one you want one even MORE
we tried for a year or so then went to specialist started taking clomid and doing the temperature thing for a bout six months then I finally said that was it!! stopped taking it and found out shortly after i was pregant (1994) the next one was early 1996 there only 16 months apart (never took anything) so after a while we said this was enough SO in 2002 my husband had a VASECTOMY but some how We have a 3.5 month old!!!! So see things really work some how some way and they will for you too!!
God has a plan and apparently it meant we were having one more!
So to answer your question I only took clomid for those 6 months and that was it but it was after the miscarriage they found out about my thyroid (whether that had something to do with it or not) GOOD LUCK
hi guys my case might be a little different i've had three abortions and a m/c three months ago and i've bin tryin ever since and still nothin..im really worried now
