I had my daughter 7 1/2 months ago. I started shedding hair at 3 months postpartumPost-partum depression. It is still shedding a bit, but I have lost probably 1/3 of my hair and have some bald spotsBirthmarks - pigmented Liver spots Measles, koplik spots - close-up Mongolian blue spots. I see tiny hairs around my hairline which must mean it's growing back. Anybody else have shedding like this? Is there anything I can do to grow my hair back? I look hideous and it's embarrassing and I don't want to wear a fake-looking wig.
I see a lot of posts on this and I also suggest getting your thyorid checked. Hypothyorid cause extreme hair loss. I'm talking exrteme and it cause weight gain. I have this condition and it has gotten worse while being pregnant. Go to the dr. and ask him to check it. They will do a TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh test, but you should have your T3, T4T4 test, and Free T3 checked. They may send you else where to get this, I don't know. Mine thyorid is shot.
After my son it was clumps falling out for about 8 months, then it stopped. Im also a hairstylist and see this all the time too. It is normal, but if it goes on for more than a year id def get checked out!
my hair really thinned out after I gave birth although I never had bald spots. I read that the stress of birth on your body is what makes it happen. Id mention it to the doctor if its that bad though.
It's very normal to lose a ton of hair beginning 3 mos PP. When we're PG, we don't experience the normal daily hair loss that we do every day and that's why our hair seems thicker than usual when PG. However, all those hairs that should've fallen out but didn't while PG, start falling out Post Partum, resulting in what seems like an excessive amount. I do agree with kris though to have your thyroid checked to be sure.
I had TONS of hair fall out after I gave birth to my DD. I never had any bald spots, but I couldn't even touch my head without a ton falling out! I noticed, for me, that it did not completely go away until after I stopped nursing...It was a total pain in the butt! I don't know how many drains i clogged! LOL.
