I've been taking NEEVO for about 20 days and am 8 wks pregnant. Seems fine so far. Didn't know it was for a special condition - can you tell me more? Thought it was just regular prenatal vitamin. Thanks!
I think that Neevo is also given as prenatal during normal healthy pregnancies as well. The only difference between it vs other prenatals, is that it provides folic acid in a different form. I have a condition where my body is completely unable to process folic acid, which causes significant complications during pregnancy. So the Neevo is good for me because it gives my body the folic acid in a way that my body can use. I also like it it because it doesn't upset my stomach the way other prenatals did. 7 weeks, today... so far so good! Congrats and good luck with your pregnancy!
I have been taking neevo for about a week now, my doctor prescribed it to me at 33 weeks after finding out that my iron count was just a little low. Apparently neevo skips the 8-10 week period that most vitamins have and go straight to providing your body with the vitamins you are needing.
Hi, Yes I have MTHFR ( it is the blood issue that affects your absorption of folic acid) In addition I am 42 and 25 1/2 weeks pregnant.
My high risk doctor found it in taking blood tests. I have been taking it since 8 weeks. Everything has gone well and I have had no problems taking it. I did talk to a pharmacist today when I picked it up ( I got it filled at a different pharmacy) She recommended taking it with lots of water, and an empty stomach. She also recommended that I did not lie down until 30 minutes after taking it. I have been taking it when I get up in the morning..so I luckily have been following directions- but I had not been told this before. Good Luck and have a great pregnancy
Neevo contains the active form of folic acid, what most people's metabolism turns folic acid into prior to use.
They test for the problem by measuring the homocysteine levels in a person's blood, because the active form of folic acid changes homocystein into methionine in the folic acid metabolism cycle. If you don't metabolize folic acid, your homocysteine levels rise and you run out of methionine.
In addition to miscarriage, the inability to metabolize folic acid caused by MTHFR (genetic mutations that are hereditary) is associated with spina bifida and other neural tube problems, preeclampsia, neurologic and psychiatric disorders, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel & bladder, Acardiovascular disease, stroke, Parkinson's, Alzheimers, and autism spectum disorders, so it is a big deal to take your Neevo, even after pregnancy, if you have this mutation.
I was 19 wks and miscarried. I am still trying to figure everything out. TYwo vessel umbilical cord positive for acute funisitis, Mucleated red blood cells identified in the umbilical cord vessels , Acute chorioamnionitis , Hemorrhage identified grossly into placental disc, Chronic Villitis identified, Moderate amount of subchorionic and intervillous fibrinoid, Deposition with Dystrophic calcificationautolysis of cardiac skeletal muscles and liver Moderate autolysis of lung jparenchyma with retention of nuclear basophilia consistent with intraterine fetal demise at 96 hr tpo 1 week.. If any one knows much about this I am 40 years old and would love to have a child. Is it safe to try again? Does anyone truly understand this? Please help.
I just recently found out that I am pregnant again. This is my fourth pregnancy and I am 32 years old. All of my past pregnancies ended up as miscarriages and I am hoping this one makes it. I went to the doctor today and had an ultrasound (I suppose to be 6wks1dy pregnant) but the doctor saw nothing but the sac, not fetal activity. I am so discouraged. He also stated that I start taking this new vitamin Nee'vo. I am praying that everything works out fine because I don't believe I can endure this kind of pain anymore. Tamika
My doc gave me Neevo as prenatal vitamins after I told her that I'm planning to get pregnant sometimes next year, after my fiance and I getting married in July. Is it too early to take it? I started taking it today.
I'm pleased to report that I had a beautiful, healthy baby girl. I believe wholeheartedly that Neevo contributed to my healthy pregnancy, which is wonderful! (I did, however, get pre-eclampsia during my 40th week of pregnancy, but aside from it being a scary birth experience, everyone is happy and healthy.)
I take Prenate DHA and it has the same active folate for the MTHFR. It has been out for a couple of years and i have never had one problem, burp, upset stomach or anything. It is really easy to swallow and has 300mg DHA. If anyone is concerned about the Neevo they should try this one. The folate ingredient is called Metafolin. I recommend it to all my pregnant friends. And you won't have to worry about taking it ling down or on an empty stomach. Take it whenever or however. The stuff is great.
My doctor prescribed Neevo after my first prenatal appointment. I am currently 5 weeks pregnant. I have been on Neevo for 4 days and have never felt so miserable. I have had severe stomach pains and diarrhea that has me running to the bathroom more than 10 times a day. I refuse to take any more of these. I didn't take one yesterday and the cramps/diarrhea have lessened today. I'm calling my doctor today to get an alternative.
Another thing that is interesting about Neevo is that it states do not take with milk or dairy products however there is only 200mg of calcium in Neevo.
I believe Neevo is great prenatal for some conditions, but if you see, for years and years doctor prescribe prenatal that contains 1mg of folic acid. CDC recommends Folic Acid in the synthetic for a reason, with the exception of dose patients with some conditions like folic Acid absorption deficiencies. Not all women need Neevo for just in case, for patients with no absorptions conditions is good that there own body metabolize the Folic Acid. If your body can do it, better. My cousin take Atabex EC before, after, and lactation time. The reason why she loves this Prenatal is the pill size, very very small, and not only that, got 17 essentials vitamins, minerals and a gentle Stoll Softener. About DHA, I don’t believe on changing the DHA instead all important vitamins and minerals that baby and mother to be needs. I know you can buy the DHA apart on the pharmacy, DHA always is a Dietary Supplement, except when get added to the prescribe Prenatal Vitamins. Please Google it ATABEX EC.
your post above really raised my curiosity and hope for you.
