Anyone gone through 4 c-sections or more?

Anyone gone through 4 c-sections or more?

Would like to hear about other's experiences in undergoing a c-section for the fourth time or even more. If it is true that it will be a hard one and more complicated the more you do. Anyone who would like to encourage me and hope not discourage me, would appreciate so much to hear her experience. I had already 3 c- sections last one 4 years ago and I'm 34 years of age. Thankyou.

i have had one c-section with the birth of my 3rd son in feb 2003. (he was breech) i am currently 12 weeks into this pregnancy and i am opting for another c-section. the reason is because i am not one to tolerate those horrid labor pains. c-sections are easier, yet the recovery more painful, and longer. not to mention this thick scar that is very prominent. since you say that you have had three of them do you have 3 scars, or do they cut in the same incision? and as far as you having a 4th, there are probably many risks involved because of scar tissue and what not. but it probably would be safer than a v-bac because the pushing during labor could cause the scar in the uterus to rupture/open. what years did you have the three c-sections? were they recent?

You are verying me that abroad c-sections can be chosen by the mother. Here in the country where I live this is not possible. Still I had 3 c-sections 2 of them were emergencies and 1 spinal. First one was exactly 15 years tomorrow that is 11th November 1990, then in 1993 two years 3 months after. And the last one almost 4 years ago. Believe me the scar is invisible yes it is made so carefully everytime on the same scar and yes it is invisible. So invisible that I cannot say I have a scar. Good Luck to you and your husband for your next arival. Am still considering another pregnancy that also means another c-section.

I'm opting for a c-section this time too, more than like this one will also be breech.  I have never had a natural delivery, but for me I did not find the c-section recovery too bad.  I was walking around that night and went to the mall when I got released from the hospital!  My scar is not too noticeable!

Yes I think a scheduled c-section is different from a c-section after battling to have a natural birth for long hours. That happened to me exactly 15 years today with my first son, my first  operation. I've been for long trying natural labour then an emergency c-section. Had quite a lot trouble afterwards as I was unconscious for almost a whole day afterwards and probably it was due to anaesthetic and not the operation itself. Blood pressure was there too and of course it did'nt help either. Still then recovery was not that long and awful.
Yes I have to go and have a talk with my Dr. first before planning.

Yes C-section in America are not very uncommon at all.  VBAC are getting more common, but a lot of women that were forced to have a c-section the first delivery opt to have one the second delivery.  Most OB's will leave that choice to the woman.

My cousin and I both delivered within a week of each other.  I had a c-section, she went natural with an epidural.  My recovery was much faster than hers internally (she had a small tear).  I never took any additional pain medicine after the anesthesia wore off. I didn't have any complications at all!  I was in the military at the time so after my maternity leave I was back to running 3-4 miles everyday.

Both my sister's on the other hand had to have c-sections after hours of labor, (mine was a scheduled c-section) and their recovery was a lot longer than mine,  I guess it makes a big difference if you don't have to go through labor first!

As for having a 4th c-section, only your doctor can advise you.  I think if it has been 4 years since your last one, you body has probably significantly recovered.  It's worth asking!

Good luck!

Hi. Yes must confirm that c-sections are not that much horrible as many think or imagine it is. Of course it is a major operation but recovery after the operation is not that awful. There's medicine that can help reducing the pain while giving to give birth you need pain and cannot reduce it unless you won't to long the labour . In my country when someone knows or hear that anyone has undergo a c-section or is going to have it done soon, they start panicking and crying and if you tell them I had a c-section they start calling you POOR Ohhhhh ceasarean ....... is it the same in your country? Anyway, don't want to be understood  wrongly, but I think that c-sections are less painful than normal birth. Yes recovery is much longer. And everything has its own difficulties and complications in these things. In my last operation, just after a week I had to leave hospital without my son cos he was in the SCBU as he was born premature. After a week I drove the car and very often had to go up 5 storeys of stairs at the hospital as there was only 1 lift the other under repair, and I was always in a hurry to go to visit my son that I won't wait in the que for the lift. I think if there won't be any complications C-Sections nowadays are very safe and surely not that awful as many imagine. What concern me  is how much its healthy when its repetetive in my case after 3 c-sections, if the uterus will be strong enough to grow a baby till the end of a pregnancy??
