Anyone have a blighted ovum?

I am currently 8.4 weeks pregnant (LMP) and I started bleeding on Sunday 4 days ago. The doctors office checked my HCG levels on Monday and they were normal. On Tuesday  I had an ultrasound and they could see the sac but they couldn't see anything in it. They said it might be too early to see the baby and then scheduled another ultrasound in 2 weeks. I did my own research and came across blighted ovum and I'm wondering if that is what's wrong. I am still bleeding and some small clots are on the toilet paper when I wipe. I don't fill a pad in a day but every time I wipe it's really bloody and bright red with some small clots. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a blighted ovum or similar symptoms and can give me some info.

I've had two blighted ovums and each time I found out, it was because I would start spotting brown blood and I'd be sent for an ultrasound.  The first one, I was 7 weeks but the sac was empty and only measuring 4 weeks.  The second time I was 5 weeks, almost 6 and the sac was empty and only measuring 4 weeks again.  Usually, at 8 weeks, unless your dates are off, you should be able to see a baby and a heartbeat.  You just never know. Pregnancy is one big waiting game.  You could go back in two weeks and see everything you need to see.  If your bleeding gets worse, with cramps and filling more than one pad and hour, get to the doctor.  If it stops or stays the same, the bleeding might just be normal for you.  A lot of women go on to have healthy children even with bleeding during pregnancy.  Good luck to you.

I also had a blighted ovum in June 06.  I was suppose to be 9w.  I started to spot dark blood and then it became pink and then bright red.  I went to ER and the did hcg which was normal and did an us.  There was only a sac and it only measure 6w6d.  They also said that it may be to early.  We home 4 days into my bleeding I did not way a pad either only had to wear a liner.  On about the 6th day it was really starting to get heavy.  I had to wear a pad.  I went back to ER and my levels increased some but did not double.  The next day I had bad cramping and passed the sac.  It really was the worst thing ever.  The whole process took about 7 days.  I bleed for another 2 weeks.  I also was passing small clots before passing sac.  Just wait it out, there is hope but prepare yourself for the worst.  You can never really prepare though.  I will be thinking of you.  BTW in Oct of that year I got pregnant again and had my son June19, same day as the m/c.  Crazy

I am just finishing up miscarrying because of a blithed ovum.  However, my HCG levels were never normal.  My doctor sent me for blood every five days for three weeks and they were always going up but never enough.  I miscarried at 10 weeks and my hcg levels were at 12000.  My miscarriage was extremely painful so if you aren't feeling crazy cramps, keep the hope!  There are many women who have been told they have a blithed ovum early in their pregnancy and go on to have healthy, normal babies.  Keep your head up and don't get too stressed.

i just had a m/c last thursday. i started spotting first then it got a little heavier. but lighter than a period. i had no cramping or anything and last week i passed the sac and what look like was going to be my baby. the next day my bleeding stopped and now me and my boo are trying again. hope for the best and prepare for the worst. leave everytning in god's hands and i want to say try not to worry but that's impossible. but try not too.keep us posted and god bless.

kris123- congrads on the little one. i'm hoping to get pregnant again soon. any advice? so you had a normal m/c? i really hope to get pregnant again soon. so you know if it's true that you are more fertilte after a m/c or is that false. i'm tring to see when i will ovulate again.

marie1210-how long did it take for you to get pregnant after your m/c?

nermineagain- good luck to you and may the lord be with you keep us posted

I am sorry for what you are going through. I found out i had a blighted ovum at about 8 weeks. I had several ultrasounds to make sure that was indeed what it was. I spotted brown on and off during the entire 8 weeks of pregnancy. We never saw anything but a sac and the sac was not growing as fast as it should be. Every time I would go back to have another ultrasound, the sac would only measure a little bigger, nothing compared to what is was supposed to be though. The only thing you can really do is to wait and see. Have your docs monitor your hCg levels...mine rose normally for a while and then kinda of plateaued and eventually started to decrease. I ended up having a D&C, got pregnant again right after that and miscarried that baby at 8 weeks also....the i waited to let my body heal and got preggo in May and now I am 26 weeks with a little boy. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping for the best. Keep us updated.

I think I had a m/c last night. I had bad cramps for about an hour and when I went to the bathroom there was a lot of blood and a big plop. I'm not bleeding hardly at all today and have no cramping.

I have had 2 blighted ovums and one missed miscarriage.  It sounds like that is what you have from my experience and with what happened last night it is possible you did finally miscarry naturally.  I would call your doc ASAP and go in for an ultrasound.  You want to make sure you passed everything if indeed you did have a miscarriage.  I'm sorry for your loss if this is true. :(  I've been there. I miscarried naturally the first time at 10 1/2 weeks and then had a D&C the last 2 times.  Make sure, if you did miscarry, that they watch your numbers until you 0 out on your HCG levels.  Feel free to ask me any questions. Again I am sorry you are going through this but on a positive note, some people do pass clots and still go on to have healthy babies.  Defeintly call your doc ASAP.
