At 9dpo is it possible for qualitive or quantitive bloodwork to be wrong?

At 9dpo is it possible for qualitive or quantitive bloodwork to be wrong?

I think I may have jumped the gun abit and requested blood work to be done at 9dpo.  They did it and the results came back negative.  However, Im still feeling "pregnant"  Actually, I feel really PMS-y.  More than I ever have. Loss of appetite, irritable, swollen breasts with blue viens running toward the nipple (??), feeling "off".  I have been temping and my chart looks great.  Everything seems to fit except these blood test results.  Could they be wrong at 9dpo?

Thank you.

Your body does not produce HCG until implantation, which typically occurs 6-10 dpo, but can vary slightly from this as well. Anything 5 or below is considered negative for pregnancy...but typically with a negative quantitative test it would also be too early to have symptoms.

The best thing to do is to wait until you actually miss your period and then test...which is typically 14 dpo depending on the regularity of your cycle.

As hard as it is, try to be patient and take a test after you miss your cycle...emotions can play wonderful tricks on us and I would just wait it out.

Please know that this is not said easily b/c I venture to say that nearly every woman on this forum has waited for the day they could test, many testing too early and just as many disappointed w/ a BFN.  We've all been there and we're here for support.

Good luck!

Everyone is different, but I got my BFP at 9dpo and the next day, at 10 dpo my hcg level was 253 so I don't think it's too early. If you don't get AF in the next few days, test again. Good luck!

Hi there...I just wanted to share my story to ya! I found out I was preggo really early at like 8 dpo and wanted to confirm it with a blood test. I had takes tons of pregnancy tests and they all said positive. Well, to my surprise when I went to have a qualitative blood test, the results came back negative. I freaked out and bought more preggo tests and kept having positive results. So, after tons of crying and stuff I just determined that I was having a chemical pregnancy and I would have never even knew I was pregnant if I hadnt tested so early. For the next few days, I was bummed out...so I called the doc and kept telling them that I was testing positive on all kinds of pregnancy tests and they sent the SAME blood work off from the first test and got a quantitative test done. That test came back with like 172hcg. So, the first round, someone in the lab messed my test up and I really was pregnant. It is very stressful knowing you are preggo that early before your period...I will NEVER do it again as it was too much stress for me...luckily, in the end, it was all worth it. I now have a healthy and happy 7 week old boy after all that mess! Good luck with you..Have you even tested with a HPT? I used the EPT 5 days sooner test...Let us know!

Thanks so much!  I love reading stories like yours!  Gives me hope!  I have done a few hpts.  One at 9dpo, one at 10dpo, and then a cheapy one at 11 dpo.  Today I am at 12 dpo and didnt test at all b/c of the news of the negative quant. test.  The blood was taken at 9dpo so....I guess maybe I still have hope?  Im going to wait it out a couple more days see if af shows over the weekend and if not test again with a first response.

Thanks again!
