Attn. TTC'ers with tipped uterus/OPEN FORUM IF NEEDED

No question here, just thought I'd share a bit of info. If you are like me and your Dr. has told you that you have a tipped or tilted uterus, this is interesting. This is when your uterus is tilted toward your spine rather than your stomach like most. This condition is rare and insignificant except when you are TTC. Apparantly after BD'ing, we should lay on our stomachs with a pillow under our upper thighs instead of on our backs for at least 15 minutes, like most ladies. This is so that sperm immediately flow toward the cervix rather than into the posterior fornix, the space behind the opening of the cervix. (source Dr. Shettles' book)

Just thought I'd help a fellow TTC'er if it applies!! Convert to open forum if needed!

I have a tilted uterus as does my sister and we were both able to get pregnant missionary style without lying on our stomachs. Just wanted to add this in case someone is freaking out that they have been having sex in the wrong position.

Me too! I don't think it has to do with sex position, but laying on your stomach afterwards IF someone had problems getting prego with a tilted uterus couldn't hurt. Just another idea to try somthing different if it hasn't worked out yet! :)

Unfortunately there is no truth to this.  99.9% of the time a tipped uterus does not affect fertility at all.  I too have a tipped uterus and I conceived with no special positioning at all.

My doctor told me that some people can have trouble, but I did not with my DD, I got preggo the first try missionary style! But this time it is taking a long time to conceive, so I'll try anything! If I get a BFP next month, maybe that's why! :)

This info came from Dr. Shettles book, "How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby". He could be right, but it could just be a theory. Either way, it's worth a shot, right? Baby dust to you!

I have a tipped uterus....didnt know til after i was preg with my son though, lol. We did have trouble getting prego this time around though....so we would have sex every other/every day (depending on time) and i would use the instead cups and after inserting it...every other time i would lay on my tummy, and the other times on my back....we are prego!!!!
Good Luck to the rest of you!!!!

I have a tipped uterus and I conceived 4 times with no special positioning either.  But two of them were conceived from the doggie style postion - which hurts like hell. Does anyone else with a tipped uterus have pain during sex?  I might add that I have had one m/c and am now 4w - just got my BFP

Do any of you ladies have pain during sex - doggie style sorry to spell it out.  I get pains that feel like someone is putting a knife in me and it lasts for 15mins afterwards

I have a tipped uterus and have no pain with sex from it. My painful sex was caused by endometriosis and WOW did it hurt before I had it treated.

Hi there,
just wanted to let you know that I had the same problem.....not anymore, I call the shots now on the pos. and well I usually say to DH like it or lump it.......we have great laughs when bd'ing and my DH is very understanding........until he read that doggyS is the best pos to use when you want to get pg....so ...... But I know what you mean, and so maybe just experiment and find another good pos....that is what we did. Have a nice evening.......

I did not know that... in fact both of my doctors have told me that the tilted uterus should not have any effect on TTC.   My first doctor (that I went to when I was 20 years old) told me I would have a difficult time... and she was right.   Now 11 years later and 2 years TTC, I am wondering if my husband and I have been fighting gravity all this time.
Well... I did an IUI with clomid this month, so maybe that will work.
Did your doctor tell you to do this or did you read it somewhere?

Hi I too a have tilted uterus and asked questions and they looked at me like "yeah so and your question" the nurses and OB said that we are starting to be the "norm" as opposed to abnormal.  Not sure why...but...should have no problems conceiving or with child delivery.
But I will still try your way what do I have to lose worth a try.  hey if I need to stand on my head I'll DO IT !!!! ha ha ha

Hello ladies!  This is my 1st question on this site.  I absolutely love it and think it's so great how everyone is so supportive.  I'm going for an u/s 2morrow a.m. for cramping & spotting.  Not sure the color, it was brown after several hours btwn bathroom breaks and covered a liner (sorry if TMI)so it's hard to tell.  The spotting has since stopped, but I still have mild cramping and persistent lower back pain.  I'm just over 13 wks....just wondering if anyone has any uplifting stories of similar situations....this pg has me so worried!  I've spotted multiple times in my first trimester, and was hoping all would be smooth sailing now.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks :o)

hi. i just wanted to tell you that i'm thinking of you - i hope that all ends up okay and you're just going through ok spotting and nothing more serious. i don't have any personal uplifting stories, but i've read on here that brown blood means old blood and there have been plenty of women on here who've spotted/bled even more than that and everything's been okay. you say you've been spotting the whole pregnancy, but i'm assuming the dr. sees that everything's ok and is keeping a close watch on you. again, i hope everything turns out all right for you. good luck. we're here if you need us.

Hi - I just wanted to tell you that I had a HUGE bleed of bright red blood with my second baby (3rd pregnancy) at 11 weeks and I thought for sure I'd lost another baby. (I m/c my first and then had a baby girl). I went in same day for u/s with the bleeding and they told me there was a lovely fast heartbeat...I couldn't believe it as I thought they were going to tell me the baby had died!!! I bled for a couple more days and it gradually eased off. It turned out it was blood clot inside the uterus but not near the baby so ??? Anyway, I'm now 5 weeks with my 5th pregnancy and 4th baby!!!

Aw, congrats on your BFP!!!  It came pretty quick this time!  How exciting. I haved a tilted uterus too and have pain during sex, my Dr. didn't seem to think that's why I had pain though, but could not offer me any other reasons.  I also have endometriosis, and have had uterine spasms.  Strange, but I went in with what I thought was a UTI, again, and they couldn't detect one, the antibiotics didn't help, nothing did.  That's when I went in to my OBGYN and she gave me something to help "relax" my uterus.  Really weird, but it helped, right after that got pregnant with my son he's now 3 and I have had very little "spasm" pain, but sex still hurts, especially if I wait a few days in between.  Wish I knew why too...

mumwith#4: Thanks for the uplifting story! Hoping for a happy healthy pregnancy for you!

I went in for my u/s this morning and they said the baby is fine....that the placenta is low, partially covering my cervix, and that's the cause of the bleeding.  I'll go back in 3 wks for another u/s to see if it's moved up, until then, no work.  I'm praying things get better and not worse (could turn into placenta previa).  I'll keep you girls posted.  If anyone has had a similar experience, I'd love to hear your stories!  Thanks again for all your positive thoughts and prayers!

i'm just glad to hear that everything's ok and that your dr. is going to be monitoring and on top of the situation. hope continues to be well and the rest of your pregnancy is healthy.

Luckily with the majority of placenta previa they do correct themselves before 28 weeks.

My gyn said I have a tilted uterus and it means nothing except I won't have back labor if I am pregnant.  But I could swear the RE said anteverted (not tilted) when she did a sonogram.  I have to ask.  I sometimes have pain with sex depending on the pos.  I had thought that maybe laying on my stomach might help to conceive so I will try it.  I beleive all if not most of my pregnancys occur with me on top.  I have one healthy preg now dealing with 3 miscarriages.

We made sure we were doing the baby dance once every other nite, then just found out I'm pregnant. I can't actually believe it. Baby dust to everyone xx
