Baby Head Growth Off-Normal??

Baby Head Growth Off-Normal??

I got a 3D/4D u/s on Friday.  I am 20w5d.  I did not get a chance to talk to the high risk dr as he was in delivery.  When the tech was doing the u/s she was measuring the head and asked me if we were sure on our dates...which we are.  I noticed that the baby's head measurements were measuring a week behind.  Does anyone know if this is normal.  I tried calling my regular dr today to see if they had gotten the report yet (I have placenta previa) to see if there was anything new or more restrictions but they said they would not have the report for a week or so.  The way the tech asked about my dates made me worried and then I saw the date and now am worried since I did not get to speak to dr.  Thanks for any info.

You are 20 weeks 5 days of the baby is measuring 20 weeks 5 days, I am measuring 13 weeks 4 days according to my LMP but the baby is almost 12 weeks. Maybe thats what he meant?

The baby's head is measuring 19w3d.  This is my 7th u/s and the measurements have all been accurate until now.  So I am just wondering if there is problem with the growth as I thought measurements were more accurate by now.

when i was 36 weeks, my ob/gyn did a u/s and told me that dd's head measures 34 weeks.  she refered me to a specialist to redo the u/s.  needless to say i was freaked out and cried for two days non stop.  i never got to see the specialist since i had dd a few days later.  dd was born small but she was one strong baby (you could hear her scream down the hall).  she's now 5 mos and she is developing beautifully.  a u/s can be off by a few days (depending on the position ogf the baby).  plus, dh has a small head so i forgot to take genes into consideration.  i wouldn't worry too much if it;s off by just one week.

I think it may be a normal variation.  AFter 20 weeks babies grow at individual rates.  Maybe you have a small head and the baby is just taking after you.

That small head will make the delivery a little more pleasant.

If they do a follow up u/s next week your babaies head could be right on.  They have growth spurts jus t like when they are born and go thorugh the different stages.  Unless the dr calls you with a concern relax and enjoy feeling good and feeling the baby.

I have the opposite going on -- my baby's head measured about 5 days bigger than the rest of her!  They didn't seem alarmed so I'm not going to be.  I may ask about it at my next appointment though...

i am also guessing that it is normal variation.  I am in 23rd week and they took lots of measurements at our dr visit / ultrasound a week and a half ago.  some were right on, some were a few days off and some were a week off!  I wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks to all.  I always seem to worry.  Nice to have you all there to help as it always feels better listening to others who have been there or understand the worrying!!

My baby's head was 11 days behind at the same time. By the next u/s 8 weeks later, she had caught up. Her head was on the small end of normal when she was born, but so was she. She's a healthy almost 6 weeks now.
