Baby food with chunks

by Jenny100, Jul 27, 2008 04:36PM
Jameson does not like food if its not totally pureed and has no chunks. He is 10 1/2 months and he has 6 teeth, so he should be trying foods with small bits and chunks. But if i give him anything that hasn't been ground in his baby food grinder, he spits it out.
Any suggestions? Or should I not worry about it as long as he is eating well? I guess it doesn't matter.... or does it? Does he need to learn to chew bits and chunks right now?

cameron too is 10 and a half months and he didnt like chunks either.. its only been a month and what i did was started with peas and carrots but i use baby food bought and added a little water for the peas because they are dry and then squished the suppers like the hard pieces and he started learning to chew and a month later he is fine with some chunks... he is getting better some things he still gags on...but he will eat a fry no problem.. he loves spagetti and hot cereal..so who knows try thickening something first

Jake still doesn't like baby food with chunks either...I think he gets confused...

He's got a bad gag reflex too...LOL....poor kid.

He eats finger foods fine, because he knows he has to chew...but when chunks are mixed with the pureed food he gets all nervous and gags...

My Dr told me not to worry about it Thursday when I brought it up..  She just said keep trying...he'll get it.

This weekend.  I chopped up mac and cheese and put it in his sweet potatoes....He had a little trouble but he did well.
