Baby super cranky, teeth have already erupted

Baby super cranky, teeth have already erupted

Hi all!  Ryder's first two teeth are now completely erupted (at least, they are through the gum).  It was his bottom two.  During the process he was drooling, whiney and well, not his usual cheerful self.  However, since they actually came through (they are through the gum, but not all the way grown in if that makes sense) he is unbelievably whiney.  He is super clingy, cries so much easier then usual and just seems unhappy. Not all day, but for longer periods then normal (thankfully I still get lots of smiles!!). He is normally only like that if he is really tired, or hungry. He doesn't want to play as much, he just wants to sit on my lap and cuddle.  He is a week past 5 months.  Is this still due to the teeth coming in or does it sound like something else to you?  He has a wellness check Aug. 5th, but am wondering if I should take him in anyway.  He is not sick, or at least doesn't seem to be.  No fever, regular bowel movements, still eating fairly well and sleeping at night better then ever.  It's really strange...I don't know what happened.

Poor Ryder:~( Sounds like teething to me. He could be getting his top two now also. With my first 2 boys they started teething very early and sometimes they would have more than one or two coming in at a time:~( Taylor is finally getting her top two and man let me tell you, lol. All she wants to do is snuggle. I love it but I cant do that all day long:~(
If he doesnt seem to be feeling better in the next few days you could always take him in for peace of mind:~) Hope he is back to his old self soon!

I didn't think of that.  I guess I assumed it would be awhile now until the top two.  I just felt his gum line and no bumps yet, but I know that does not necessarily mean anything.  He does still knaw all the time...and his fist is continuously in his mouth it seems.  I wonder.  The other thing that is a bit weird for him is how he is waking up.  He is now up to sleeping 5 hour stretches, sometimes longer (I am in heaven..lol).  Usually when he wakes up I hear him quietly fussing or chatting for a few minutes, and he gradually gets louder. I can usually get to him before he is full on crying.  The last few days he wakes up with a shriek, like he is in pain or something.  I wondered if even though his bottom teeth are through if they could still be bugging him.  They do still have a ways to go before they are full size if you know what I mean.  I think I will see how the weekend goes, and if it continues I will take him in on monday.  Even though he isn't sick exactly, I can sure tell he is not himself either.  Thanks Tab!!

Amanda, you could always bring him in and have them check his ears just for the heck of it. Thats too can cause pain with no symtoms (symptoms). Alternating tylenol and motrin when he seems to be at his worst and origel. Taylor HATES the origel but usually it helps and she can become a little more bearable, lol. Also the wet washcloth just for something to chew on:~) Hope Ryder starts feeling better.
And how great for you!!! 5 hours a night!!! Yay!
faya83- 3 months is not too early for teeth to come in. My first two oldest had teeth coming through around then. So glad I didnt breastfeed, lol! But yes it could be the start of a long prosess. Good luck!

Yep, I agree with Tabby.  I could see the tip of Ryder's first tooth at about 4months old or so.  He had been drooling and chewing his hand, etc. for almost a month aleady.  So even if you can't see them yet, the teething process has probably begun.  And it's not that bad.  He has had bad "patches", but it's not all the time. Usually just a few days at a time. I have also read that the first teeth are the hardest on them.  It's just frustrating because your first instinct is to help them, and there does not seem to be a whole lot you can do.  We just cuddle a lot and I use the tylenol and also a homeopathic teething remedy that seems to help a bit as well.
