Basal Body Temperature

by chinkalink, Oct 07, 2005 12:00AM
How long should your basal temperature stay up after you ovulate.  Mine has been up for 14 days.  Just wondering if this is a sign of pregnancy.  How many days after ovulation does it normally drop if you are not pregnant?  Also, I had an hcg shot on September 21st.  When should I do a pregnancy test?

It shouldn't drop again until your period starts.  Good luck!

I did hear if you're not prego it drops 3-4 days after ovulation. And if you're prego it stays elevated well it said if it has stayed elevated for 18 days you're most probably prego!! Good luck to you!!

I wasnt' charting my body temperature, but I did notice that my temperature was higher than normal, thought I had a fever, and it stayed up for about 3 weeks, and I found out I was pregant day before AF was supposed to come.  Good luck!

Your temp stays up until AF arrives.  The usual is 14 to 16 days.  If you've been charting for a while you'll notice that the time from OV to AF will not change in length by more than a day or two.  Therefore, if you usually have 14 days from OV to AF and on day 17 your temp is still up, there's a good chance your preg.  If you are preg your temp will stay up.
