Hi, Placenta previa is when the placenta is attached to the lower part of your uterus rather than the top. I think the main thing that you will have to worry about is labor. If it blocks enough of the uterus you will have to get a c-section. But I believe many women continue to have healthy pregnancies. Didnt your doctor explain this to you?

Avatar_n_tn
I notice your 13-14 weeks pregnant. The placenta can migrate up to the top of the uterus during early pregnancy, ask your doctor if this is still possible, or if your too far along now.

This was from the site I gave you

PLACENTA PREVIA
What is it?

Placenta previa sounds like a disease of the placenta, but it isn't that at all. It refers to the position of the placenta, not its condition. In placenta previa, the placenta is attached in the lower half of the uterus, covering, partially covering, or touching the edge of the os, or mouth of the uterus. In early pregnancy a low-lying placenta is fairly common; but as pregnancy progresses and the uterus grows, the placenta in most cases moves upward.**

Even when it doesn't move up, it is unlikely to cause a serious problem unless it actually touches the cervical os. In the small percentage of cases in which it does touch the os, it can cause problems late in pregnancy and at delivery. The closer to the os the placenta is situated, the greater the possibility of hemorrhage. When the placenta blocks the cervix partially or completely, vaginal delivery is usually impossible. The risk of having placenta previa is higher in women who have scarring of the uterine wall from previous pregnancies, cesareans, uterine surgery, or D and C's following miscarriage. The need for greater placental surface area due to an increased need for oxygen or nutrients on behalf of the fetus (because of smoking, living at a high altitude,or carrying more than one fetus) may also increase the risk of placenta previa.

Take care of yourself sweety we will all keep you in our thoughts and prayers

Hey there me-2, I'm sorry to hear about your complication.  Did your doctor tell you if the placenta previa is Total, Partial, Marginal or Low lying?  As Christine posted, there are many websites to get info from but I hope you have a good doctor who was thorough in explaining things.  What exactly did he tell you as far as course of action, if any?  I know that in early pregnancy, a partial previa often can self-correct as the uterus enlarges and the placental site moves upward.

Please let me know what you find out.  I will keep you and your baby in my prayers.  I will ask my father (a Reproductive Endocrinologist) about it to get some more info for you, PLEASE let me know how things go.

Thanks for the well wishes but it's "me-2" who has the placenta previa.  She just addressed the question towards me because we had posted previously about spotting we both experienced.  I'm sure me-2 appreciates the info you provided as well as your prayers.

Me-2:  We are all pulling for things to correct themselves.

You and all the girls in here will be in my prayers tonight, it seems so scary in here for the last couple days. Make sure get on here and let us know how it goes hon, keep your head up hon. I called Geneva this evening after I read her post and she seemed really scared. She and I have a couple things in comon with our right side of our body, she has her right tube removed where as I have right ovary and tube gone. And both have borderline high FSH. It was nice talking to her. We started talking about how it helps when we come on this site and sometimes just read because we are not alone, non of us. We have unnamed faces that are willing to listen, give encouragement and sometimes give great information about what is happening to our bodies.

Thanks hon and you definately will be in my prayers hon.

Christine & Msklar,
Thank you so much.  It feels so much better just to hear that others are praying for you.  Ultimately, in this early stage of our pregnancies and in trying to get pregnant, there is very little we can do other than take care of ourselves, so to me, prayers are where the real power lies.

I know you are both trying to conceive, as I was for the past yr., and you are in my prayers as well.  If you'd like, my email is ***@****

I will definitely keep you both posted and I hope you will do the same.  Tonight we can prayer extra hard for me-2.  From what I've just being reading on the internet, the odds are good the placenta will correct itself.

God Bless and take care,
Bevin

Hey, I just noticed when I sent the last posting it was under my sister's login.  She is here visiting (for the past 4 days) and we have both been active on the site.  I can't get her to use my husband's computer and not my laptop so I don't have to keep re-logging in just so my name shows up correct!  I didn't realize she changed the login again before I posted. Anywa, she flys out on Thurs so hopefully this won't keep happening.  She actually just suffered from a miscarriage 2 months ago so we've been a real support to each other.

That is so so true, and what is nice is that we all will just pray anyhow and I do so believe in the power of prayer also.

God bless

i am 14 1/2 weeks according to the ultrasound. the doctor on call for my doctor told me that it is likely that the placenta will move up where it is suppose to be as i "expand" lol that's an interesting way to put it. the only thing he said was no sex, of any kind, no big "o", until the situation is corrected. i'm still a newlywed and that kind of stinks, but after all we have been through in the last year, it's a small price to pay for a healthy baby. thank you all for your kind words and support. it is very scary, as many of you already know. your prayers are greatly appreciated.

I was wondering what that was all about :). Gale I am so very sorry for your m/c, you kknow what I did, this may sound corny but it really did help me. I went to the craft store and got a baby bib and crossed stitched my angels would have been due date on it. And I just placed it in a box and now it is in my closet and every once in a while I bring it down. It just gave me a closure, I am not sure how it did but it did.

Take care you two and yes it helps having your loved ones near you.

I had a miscarriage when I was 19 (10 yrs ago) any how I felt so sure it was a girl, I was 14 wks when I lost the baby. I still have a little dress I had for my lost baby. It is comforting.

what caused the m/c, if you don't mind my asking.  since you were 14 wks, I was just wondering.

That is such a nice way to bring about closure.  I will let Gale know to read your post in the morning (she's in bed now).

They said the baby had died two weeks earlier, So baby died at 12 weeks. I was not a very stable person at that time. I was drinking a lot and doing a lot of things I shouldnt have. I didnt even realize I was pregnant untill i was about 10 weeks. By then I think damage had been done. I will always feel responsible. My life is completely different now. I have 2 boys, I quit smoking 3 yrs ago and rarely even drink, socially maybe 1 or 2 times a year. And Ive started going back to church.  Oh im gettin to far into this, just stupid kid stuff drinking with friends when I was younger.
Blank
Avatar_n_tn
Hey, been there, done that.  I can relate.  However, I wouldn't put too much blame on yourself.  There are women do a LOT of rough things to their body and no harm is done to the baby.  You don't know for sure what caused the miscarriage so you just have to believe it was not meant to be.

You are the nicest people I talk to after my husband  my son my mom and one cousin and a friend(so far away in Switzerland). to read your comforting words to one another make me feel more relax about the situation, knowing that I am not the only one and above all there are  worse cases than mine, when this happen later in the pregn. must be so much more difficult. Hand in hand we will make it all of us, believe  faith and love and a lot of PATIENCE! me saying that LOL- I've learn to have some....patience.
When I feel like crying Ithink of what happened to my friend who was expecting twins (a boy and a girl) last year via a surrogate, guess what at 7months pregn. she went on a rollercoaster!!!!! with her own kids..consequences: premature labor  hemorr. she almost died, and the babies didn't survive  one lived 3 h. the other one 1h.(placenta totally teared) this was so terrible and hurt a lot...I cried so much w/ her when this happened- therefore I should not complain anymore and think there are people who suffer more than me. Didn't mean to depress anyone just felt like sharing that this is really sad. What a stupid surrogate too! who would ever think on going on a rollercoaster at 7m.whatever.

Love ya all

Yes, I apologize for that.  I was thinking of Chloe trying to concieve (conceive).  I can't even keep my login straight.  My sister keeps commenting on the Pdollg situation.  I told her to just leave it alone but she really wants to try to get Pdollg to get help from a dif't forum.  I have other things to focus on right now!  Oh well, I'm glad we can all be here for each other.

Hi tks I guess I am just ok today can't wait to be Friday so I'll know where I am at with my HCG and this preg. if it is not good it's becoming very frustrating cause would be 3rd misca. in 2 years.. but I am not ready to give up I need to know what causes it - and more I read on the net and books I might have antibodies which screw up my placenta after a few weeks after they attached. Will advise tomorrow when I get my blood test results.
Take care
