Bleeding after a D

by ajmilli, Jun 01, 2005 12:00AM
I recently had a D&C on 5/21/05 at 13 weeks when my ultrasound revealed no heartbeat. I have been bleeding ever since. It will be 2 weeks on Saturday and I am wondering if something is wrong? Does anyone know what is normal. We would really like to start trying again right away and I am worried that there will be complications.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I had the exact same thing happen to me in Sept of 03.  I was as far along as you were also.  I think it is very normal to have some bleeding but if you are passing lots of clots or are VERY crampy have it checked.  I had to have 2 D&C's because they left a peice of placenta at the tip of my uterus and I was very uncomfortable until they did that second u/s and the bleeding then was VERY minimal.  If you are having what seems like a period then I would think that is normal though.  Good Luck and take care.  I was pg again after 2 periods and now have an almost 9 month old baby boy.  Hang in there and don't give up.

I think its common to bleed any where from 2-6 weeks
I would give myself time to heal physically and emotionally from your miscarriage, I had one in 1992 but since have had 3 children. I waited six months before trying again  I think they say 1 to 2 cycles but I wanted to make sure everything inside was healed .Cause Lord knows once is enough!
Good luck to you!

I had a D&C in Dec 04 after which I bled heavily for a few days, and then it got gradually lighter and stopped after about a week.  It then started again out of nowhere about a week after it had stopped, but it was very light and only lasted a few days.  My doctor advised at that time that it was nothing to worry about unless it became very heavy and with cramping.  My period came exactly 30 days after the D&C, and my cycles went right back to normal.  Good luck to you.

I bled for 6 weeks after my m/c. turns out there was still tissue. After d&c the bleeding stopped after a week.
