Bleeding/spotting at end of first trimester

by mkseym, Dec 19, 2006 12:00AM
I have been bleeding for over two weeks now.  I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and started bleeding around 9 weeks.  At first the flow was red and heavy but only lasted that way for a short time and then mostly brown.  It is more than spotting but not like a regular period.  Also when I go to the bathroom it apperas to be brown tissue floating in the toilet.  I have been to the dr. several times and have had 4 ultrasounds so far.  The two after the bleeding have been normal although the heartbeat was high at 170.  I have had two miscarriages before this pregnancy and both I just spotted for a few days and then the pregnancy was over.  The bleeding sometimes is red but if red only for a short while and then back to brown.  I have also gone a day without bleeding but it starts right back up.  Has anyone had any similar problem to this and not had a miscarriage.  I was on bedrest for a week and a half when the bleeding started but now am back to work.  The bleeding has not increased with activity.  I also felt like I was loosing my pregnancy symptoms before the bleeding started.  Thanks for any advice as I am worried!!

i'm 8 wks pregnant and had brown bleeding well not really bleeding but brown spotting my dr said it was a subchorionic bleed and has me on strick bed rest until my next appointment on Jan 10. So far so good. No all doctors prescribe bed rest for this some just say take it easy others just assume it will heal on its own, since in most cases it does. I suggest you take it really easy  as soon as you get home from work lay down and don't do anything i would also suggest you not have sex at least until the bleeding stops.

P.s. The no sex part is driving my dh crazy. Poor guy I'm to sick with morning sickness all day that i don't want to do anything ;)

Take it really easy , I'm sure the bleeding will stop and you will have a happy healthy baby.

Thanks...what is subchronic bleeding?  I have never heard of that.  I also have to abstain from sex which is hard.  Thankfully I don't have morning sickness.  I was feeling queasy but right before the bleeding started it went away.  Thankfully.  Also I have noticed that I have been excessively thirsty.  This just started after the bleeding picked up.

Again thanks for the advice.  Take care!!

I have been bleeding/spotting since 5 weeks LMP, even passed a clot and had bad cramps. I have a subchorionic hematoma too and I was told that it seems to be healing itself, but baby was doing good, measuring good and moving around. Still spotting but we're hanging in there, I'm now at 16 weeks LMP. Just follow Dr.'s orders, try not to stress, and never, ever stop praying! Take care & God bless!

here's a good website to explain it :

I agree as hard as it is try not to worry and get plenty of rest. I try not to worry but dread going to the bathroom. Make sure you drink plenty of fluid lack of fluids is said to cause contractions ..not sure if its true but i don't want to take any chances. Please keep me posted..
