Bleeding with progesterone suppositories.

Bleeding with progesterone suppositories.

I had a m/c in 7/05 possibly due to low progesterone.  I was on 100 mg progesterone suppositories X1 daily during the last days of my pregnancy but m/c anyway.  Now that I am ttc again, my doc put me back on the suppositories 3 days after getting a positive OPK.  The problem is, I started my period 4 days after starting the progesterone at only 7 dpo and day 26 of my cycle.  My cycle hasn't been shorter than 31 days in years and never before 12 dpo.  Could the progesterone cause the onset of my period?  I had my progesterone checked on Friday, but the doc's office hasn't gotten back to me on account of the holidays.  This makes me very nervous to continue using the suppositories if I do get pregnant.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Happy Holidays everyone.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

I am on 200mg of progesterone and am the opposite of you, it is now 13dpo and still no period. I would think the progesterone like you would make me bleed. Sorry not more help, I know it is frustrating when these meds do not do what we think they should.

Thanks for your comment.  I know I'm supposed to be on this stuff to stop bleeding but my sister and sister-in-law were both given progesterone to start their cycles up after they had their babies.  How can it do both-start a period and keep it at bay?  So confusing!

I figured once I stopped the progesterone AF would come, but not while I was still using it.  I guess when my doc's office calls with my progesterone levels I'll get more answers.  Thanks for eveyone's comments.

I've used Progesterone to sustain a pregnancy, and also to bring on a late period.

Right now, I'm taking 200 mg of Progesterone since 2 days after I ovulated to stay pregnant.

I've also had 2 miscarriages while I was on Progesterone. It did not keep an inevitable miscarriage from happening.

When I had cycles that went on and on without ovulation or a period, I would take Progesterone for a few days, then stop it abruptly. It was the sudden withdrawl (withdrawal) of Progesterone that would bring on a period.

I take 200 MG of progesterone a day because my body is producing none on its own since my last child was born.  It has yet to give me a period when its spose to, but when i miss a dose, or especially two, i bleed for a coupld days about a day and a half later.. Im not sure that will help answer your question:/ but i thought i would throw that in.  [Ive been on the progesterone for about 15 months.]
