Blighted Ovum...whose had one or heard of one?

Just wondering how many women have had an early pregnancy failure due to a blighted ovum or know someone else who has??? Just curious...I lost my baby at 12w due to this type of miscarriage, and just recently had a D&C on Dec 9. I am hoping to TTC again ASAP!!!

I had a blighted ovum 4 yearsd ago, took 2 pills instead of D&C not sure why my doc wanted to go that route. God bless

Did you have a successful pregnancy after that?? If so, how soon after did you concieve (conceive)?

Heady - I've had 3 healthy normal boys,  and two blighted ovum pregnancies.

Hi Heather,
I had a a miscarriage due to blighted Ovum 2 years ago and had a D & C.  I found out this past October that we were pregnant again and at about 9 weeks I started spotting after intercourse.  We called the doctor who had us go in for an ultra sound to make sure everything was OK and again we found out that the sac was empty.  We had to have another D & C.  I had the D & C on 12/8.  I read your post and joined the site because I wanted to let you know that I have been through this now twice.  I am still bleeding and was wondering if that is normal.  It is not really heavy but still I was wondering how long it takes to stop.

Hello..thanks for posting, did you have the miscarriages before or after your normal pregnancies??? This was my first pregnancy and now I'm scared it will happen again, or I may not get pregnant again....

I just had a blighted ovum last jan and am now 35wks pregnant so its possible to have a normal pregnancy right after!  Good luck to you.

I had a blighted ovum before my first normal pregnancy,  and then had two normal healthy babies,  and then had a blighted ovum,  and then my third normal healthy pregnancy.

I had the blighted ovum miscarriages after my two normal pregnancies.  However, I found what RockRose just posted very inspiring.  I too was worried that we may not be able to have a normal pregnancy.  Thanks for the info.

No I went on to have 2 more miscarriages, not blighted ovums but losses around 6-9 weeks after seeing a heartbeat, I then was determined to have low pergesterone and took suppositories, I went on to loose another baby at 20 weeks due to a freak umbilical cord accident, That was almost 9 months ago, after extensive genteic and chromisonal test that came back OK, I am pregnant again, 27 weeks and all looks great now!!! I do have a 7 year old daughter which i had before the blighted ovum, I also miscarried 2 pregnancy's beffore her.. I'll keep you in my prayers, It is possible to have a normal pregnancy so keep your chin up

Hello...and I am soo sorry for both of your losses!! I am soo scared that it will happen to me again as it did you...my heart goes out to you....I didnt have any bleeding for 3 days after my D&c, then all of sudden I started bleeding/spotting on Tuesday, and I still am....I have a check up appt at my Drs office tomorrow...so hopefully I will know something then...thanks for posting.

I had a MC due to blighted ovum in Sept. I had a D&C.  I am now almost 8 weeks pregnant again.  Good luck to you!
