Bowling at 17 weeks

Bowling at 17 weeks

Hello Ladies,
This is probably a dumb question, but here it goes. We have a work bowling party every year and this year I will be 17 weeks pregnant.  What do you think about me participating? I could care less either way, but the whole placental abruption thing scares me :) I will ask the dr. just thought I'd get your input. Thanks!

I would think that it would be safe to go bowling, but be careful because your balance might be off due to the ever growing belly and you don't want to slide down the alley along with the ball.Lol!!

I think you would be okay - but use a kid size ball - they are usually only 6 pounds... Have fun!!!

i would use the light ball.....i think that your muscles and ligaments are softer during pregnancy and you don't want to pull something!!!  maybe just on a precautionary note...ask your dr to be sure!!  wow, 17 weeks!! time flies!!

I'm only 10.5 weeks right now. I will be 17 weeks by then, can you even believe it?? No one at work knows I'm pregnant so I didn't know what to do. I guess by then I will be showing a bit, 2nd baby. BUT, I haven't been to work for 2 weeks and some guy (friend) said "gosh, do you have something to tell me?" Looking at me sideways. A**hole. I said what? My stomach isn't poking out at all, RUDE, he said, no your boobs are huge! They aren't though. It's just the shirt, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I really wouldn't like to tell everyone until my 12wk appt when I hear the hb. Sorry, just had to vent!!

Hey lady!  How are you feeling? WOW, time is flying!  I can't believe you are 10.5 weeks already!  That is great.  I'm 29 weeks this week.  Counting down the days....

I was bowling when pg--for both of my kids---as long as you feel good and have no complications--it should be fine---I bowled with my normal ball for my body was used to it--butlike the other posters said just use one of the lightest balls you can find...and take your time...have a great time bowling.

i asked the same question on this forum last winter when i was pregnant. enough people responded advising me not to that i decided not to risk it. one poster replied that she had miscarried and the doctor said it was from lifting, but she hadn't lifted anything heavier than a case of soda. other posters and sites said that it's ok as long as it's an activity you normally do regularly so your body is used to the movements. honestly, i think i would've been ok, but it was my first pregnancy so i was being extra cautious. i'd go by what your dr says.

I am 19 weeks and I have been bowling almost every week and will bowl up until my due date!  My husband and I are on a league that was formed through his work place.  I asked my doctor about it and she said that it was fine.  I bowl with a 10 lb. ball and the place we go to is smoke free......it's a new place with cool lights and stuff.  It's fun.  Good luck to you!

I bowled up until i was 32 weeks pregnant and thats when my league ended.  I tried to go and practice when i was like 35 weeks and it hurt really bad but that was because i was having a lot of pelvic pressure. I bowl with a 12 lb. ball and i was fine and i think it is safe.  good luck
