Braxton Hicks @ 12 Weeks???

Braxton Hicks @ 12 Weeks???

I'm 12 w today w/ my 3rd child and swear I'm starting to have Braxton Hicks contractions.  I had them BAD w/ my first child (not even knowing what they were), but I'm curious is it too early to feel them or am I feeling something else??

That is not good. I had them also very early on. Turns out, I wasnt drinking enough water.  I was dehydrated even though I didnt know I was.  Try to drink tons of water and take a break whenever you feel them coming on.  I cant stress that enough.  Also, they told me if I get more than 4-5 an hour, that I should go to the ER.  Call your dr to be sure but, start drinking tons of water now.  Good luck!

I've started to feel them too - just finally realized over the weekend what they were.  I'm almost 19w though, with my first.  However, I read online this weekend that they can actually start at like 6 weeks, but we typically don't feel them that early, but it is typical to start feeling them in the 2nd trimester.  I agree with Newbie though - if there is any regularity to them or a lot of them, go to the ER and the dehydration thing is probably a good idea too.  I go to the doctor tomorrow so I figured I'd ask about them then, but I've only been feeling them every now and then - maybe 1 or 2 times a day some days a little more, some a little less.

good luck!

Thanks guys!  I didn't realize I should take it seriously and just figured it was my body "remembering" what to do from previous pregnancy.  I didn't have much water this morning though so I've been guzzling ever since I read your responses.  Thanks so much!

I had them by 10 weeks with baby #2.  Had them by 16 weeks with my first and was a contraction machine the whole time.  I was fine, had to be induced even though I was contracting pretty good when I went in.  Just be sure to stay hydrated and tell your Dr. so they can monitor it and watch for any bad signs.  I had contractions stopped once at 36 weeks when they went to turn my son, I was told to keep my belly pretty empty, so I didn't drink water most of the day, bad idea.  Just be careful, and don't stress, it's not uncommon, especially if you have had a baby and know what's going on.  Congrats!
