Breast pumps.

Hi all. I have a 6 month old daughter and am about to make a really long drive across the country. She is breast and formula fed and Id like to give her more breast milk but she sometimes likes bottles (bottle nipples) better. I dont want her to turn completely to bottles so I want to pump. I have a hand pump made by Avent that Ive had since she was born but wasnt lactating much when she was little so I gave up on that. I recently tried it again but it still hardly gets any milk out.

Should I be replacing the rubber part that the breast goes in for better suction or should I get a whole different pump? If you have found a reliable, cheap pump, let me know what one. Im in much need. Thank you!

You can rent good breast pumps, presumably ones that can be taken places.  Contact La Leche League or your breastfeeding consultant at the hospital where you had the baby.  Presumably, you would be able to rent for just the month when you're taking the trip, so you'd have a good quality pump for just the price of the one month's rent.

Thanks for the advice but its not just a trip really. We are in BC now, live in ontario so we are going back home to stay.
