Breastfeeding and implants

Hi ladies,

I'm about 17 weeks along and have breast implants and I do plan on breastfeeding.  I'm a little nervous about this because I do not have saline implants, I have silicone as part of an FDA study.  I was told by my surgeon and obgyn that breastfeeding should not be a problem as long as my milk ducts were not damaged in surgery (which I don't think they were).  I had this surgery in my early 20's when babies were the last thing on my mind (I'm now 31), but now I can't help but be a little bit concerned about the effects of my implants on the quality of my breast milk.  Are there any ladies out there who breast fed with implants (saline or silicone)?  Just wondering if you encountered any problems.

Thanks

I'm in the same boat.  I got my implants three years ago.  I plan to breatfeed also.  I had mine put in under my muscle and have an incision under my breast where they were put in.  I don't think they cut any of my milk ducts, but I will find out.  If you had them put in at the nipple, it could be a problem - it is one of those things where you won't know till you try.  I hope you get posts because I have the same question.

My best friend had silicone implants under the muscle and breast fed her ds, after recall, had deep tissue scraping(had leaked)and they put in saline implants. Had dd 2 yrs ago and she breast fed her, too. No problems.

Yes, my implants were put in around my nipple, so who knows if there was damage done there.  Like I said, my surgeon said it shouldn't be a problem, but I won't know until I try I guess.

I hope both of us are able to breastfeed like we want to.  :)

I have saline implants- now 8 years old. I nursed my 2nd daughter for 1 year, and my 18 month old for a year.
No problems.....
