Hi everyone, well it has been a busy 6 weeks, my darling Ava will be 7 weeks tomorrow and she is doing great. Here is my question. I am breastfeedingBreast-feeding tips Breastfeeding Breastfeeding - resources and pumping. We give her a bottle about twiceTwice-a-day a day and she is not favoring the bottle or the breast. I am not making a ton of milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal. I can usually pump enough for 6oz bottle for her and another 6 oz to freeze, but what I would like to know, how much should she be drinking at 7 weeks? When I bottle feed her I give her 3 oz which usually keeps her content for about 2 hours, with the breastfeedingBreast-feeding tips Breastfeeding Breastfeeding - resources she does great at night and in the morning. Where she challenges me is in the afternoon, sometimes she drinks for about 5 minutes and she is done, so I know she is not getting much more than an 1 oz. How often is everyone feeding there baby and how much. I just want to make sure I am giving her enough.
Well what I read is that a baby can empty a breast in 15 minutes. So with 5 minutes she might be getting more, and remember that she is getting more than you will pump (even with the best pump).
Lilith is 4 weeks and she drinks 3-4 oz a sitting, on a good day. I have pumped and stored most of the breastmilk in 4oz bags so even when she's older we can just separate or add 2 for 1 bottle. I'm trying to stock for when I return to work.
Wow Ava is already 7 weeks? Time really flies... I'm soooo dreading 9 weeks.
at 7 weeks dd was drinking 3-4 oz of breast milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal on average. but some feeds were less, and some were more. since she's healthy, we follow her leadLead poisoning. at first it was hard to accept her eating only 2 ounces at once, but she actually started to gain more when we gave her control. 3 oz every 2 hrs sounds like what we did in general, and she gained 3 lbs btw her 1 and 2 month check. at around 8 weeks she started to feed more frequently and less each time and dr suggested to try to spread her feeds (not doing that cause we've had a rough week).
when you pump, are you pumping a total of 12 oz at each session?? (6 to feed, 6 to freeze), or is it 6 oz in a pumping twice/day?
