Breasts with no nipples

Breasts with no nipples

Ok here is my dilema. I had a breast reduction back in 03' and now i am desperatley trying to concieve (conceive) my first child with my husband. My breast reduction did not go well at all and i ended up loosing both of my nipples. I was a DD now I am barely a B cup. When I do become pregnant will I experience the swelling of the breasts and if so there is no place for the milk to leak out of, I know i cant brest feed obviously, but will it just automatically dry up? I was wondering because i am 2 weeks late on my period right now and i am having all these symptoms but the one definate thing i do not have is sore breasts. Help????

If you don't breast feed, yes it will eventually dry up, however no nipples can cause some MAJOR problems with leaking, and buildup underneath. Most womens boobs drain themselves (leaking) so I'd be most concerned about the milk building up underneath. That's something you should probably talk to your OB/GYN about when you do get pregnant. Good luck!

I never have experienced breast tenderness with pregnancies so don't count on that as a symptom or not...  In terms of breast feeding or not - from what I understand it's a 'supply and demand' kind of thing - so if there's no demand, there shouldn't be a supply...?  I'm sure folks at your dr's office would be able to help with more specific questions!  Good luck.

You definitely still produce milk even you dont breastfeed, everyone gets their milk in within the first few days. I would talk to your dr about this since it isn't a very common problem.

It almost sounds like they will have to figure out some way to create a way for the milk to drain, even if you don't breast feed there will be milk produced in the ducts.  Definitely discuss this with your ob-gyn and probably you will need to be referred to a specialist.  Obviously other women will have faced this but it is not a common thing, so you want a doctor who has some experience with it.  Good luck!

My mother chose not to breast feed her children and when she gave birth she was given a course of pills. Not sure what to stopp her milk from coming in and this resulted in her not becoming engorged. I know that unless there is a problem doctors won't prescribe it now but you would definately need something like this.

A tight bra, ice packs, no stimulation of the breasts will dry up the milk within a week or two after delivery.

The milk will eventually be reabsorbed by the body.  You may be at risk for mastitis.  Definitely, your doctor should be made aware of this issue.

My concern was mastitis.  Yes, a woman can dry up the milk by tight wraps, meds and ice packs and all, but it doesn't happen instantaneously.  Mastitis can happen pretty fast, and the engorgement that would happen when the milk comes in could be pretty painful too.  So definitely get the doctor's advice.
