Buenos Dias de Argentina (and Open Forum)

Hola!
Ive been in Buenos Aires for a few days, and just loving it.  I forgot how beautiful the city was.
Hard to get adjusted to the different meal times, though.  We get up at about 10am, have some cafe de leche and a croissant.  Then about 2p, we have a light lunch...some ham and cheeses.  Then some more sightseeing, shopping (everything is very inexpensive here) back to the hotel for a little siesta.  Back out looking around until 9 or 10 pm when we have dinner, followed by a leisurely coffee until about 1am.  It is amazing to see how late everything is open around here.  The streets are just as crowded at 1am as at 6pm!  It is making me sick to eat so late, though.
Well, we have to go do more sightseeing, meeting friends of DH

Didn't you do the same last year with a little girl : )d in Houston, there were people on every stress corner asking for money, I used to stop by McDonald's on the way home and pick up a bunch of 99 cent cheeseburgers and pass them out whenever I happened to be stopped at a light (traffic was awful there, you were stopped all the time!). It is amazing how many people are appreciative of such a small gesture.

Can't wait for you to get back!

No, no second honeymoon..
My husband is from Argentina, and has family here in the city.  We went last year.  Believe it or not, it is a very inexpensive vacation (well, if you can get good airfare) because the exchange rate for the dollar is so good.  For example, we took a friend out for dinner last night, ate like kings (all three of us) for about $25 US.
I got some beautiful sweaters for about $7 US each.  Cashmere.

Bit of bad luck, though.  DH brother lent us his car and it broke down just now.  DH is trying to find someone to fix it.  Good thing he is fluent!  So I am back to the computer killing time.

Way fewer beggars in the streets this year.  They apparently round them all up a couple times a year and take them somewhere and dump them.  Sad, but necessary..last year they were everywhere.  The worst is that most are children or old women.  Last night there was this pregnant woman who was asking for money outside the restaurant.  I gave her 10 pesos, which is a fortune, apparently (worth $30US).  The guy we were out with was not happy, as it only encourages them, but what the heck.  Maybe she will eat something.  Maybe not.

Anyway, I miss everyone.  Back Sunday morning.
