C-section difficulty

C-section difficulty

I had my daughter by cesearean section about a week ago. Prior to that I had a myomectomy back in Mar. 07 because of large utereine fibroids and did not have any problems from it. My doctor at that time used invisible staples on the bikini cut incision and I healed perfectly. This time I had a different doctor and she actually used metal staples for my c-section and the incision opened in two places and looks terrible. I know I had a baby this time from surgery, but I'm wondering if why this didn't go as smoothly as my myomectomy. The same cut was used from where I had the myomectomy. I'm wondering if the trauma from using the same area had something to do with why I'm still experiencing some bleeding.  I am still bleeding from my incision and I am having stomach pains.I have taken persusett, but it doesn't seem to work all that much.  On two occasions, when I took a shower a gush a blood flowed out from my wound. When I went to see my doctor she said it's good that the wound is draining or else I would have a hematoma and it could get infected. She also told me to keep gauze and a pad taped to the wound. Is this all that can be done? How do I know that my wound is not infected? There are two openings in the wound and it looks really nasty. I'm wondering if this is going to heal and look normal someday? How long will this bleeding last? I can't really enjoy my little girl like I want because of this bleeding and pain. Has this happened to anyone else?

i can't give you advice about the bleeding, because mine didn't bleed so long. mine was also a first incision. i did want to say that for the pain, you should alternate the percoset and motrin/ibuprofin. take the percoset as prescribed and on schedule. in between, take the motrin. it will help a lot. ask your dr or pharmacist about the dosage of motrin- i know i took more than the bottle says, but that was under the watchful eye of my pharmacist (aka husband), so i will not tell you what dosage to take.

i have had 3 c sections in which it got harder to recover from cause of the scar tissue that they had to cut through i would def take your pain meds and keep the area clean .try to stay off your feet . so that you are not puttin press on it and it will eventually heal , my last one had a few open spots.. and its ok now . enjoy the lil one and stop worryin so mych . take the bleeding over infection,,

That sounds terrible. I have had 2 sections. Did they put any butterfly tape on it to keep the incision closed? You need to be very careful not to strain and take it easy. If you think something isn't right, you know best and go see the dr. It is nothing to play around with.

I've had 2 c-sections and am going for my 3rd in less than 36 hours.  With both of my first two they glued the outside and I had no gaps or any bleeding or fluid of any sort at the incision site.  Hopefully my 3rd goes as smoothly.  If you are worried, call the doctor-that's what they are there for.  Also, I would follow tiredbuthappy's advice with the motrin.  I used it along with percocet and it helped a lot too!
