C-section still open/infected 4 months post partum

I had a c-section on April 24th, almost 4 months ago. A my two week pp appointment, I told my doctor I thought it was infected b/c it had a foul odor and was oozing. She said it looked fine and sent me on my way. At my 6 week checkup it still seemed infected to me but she thought it looked fine. However, she was concerned b/c it wasn't closed yet. She did do a culture and I was told it came back normal, no infection. Long story short, they finally did another culture because she was planning to have to take me back in the OR b/c it would not heal. Test results showed an E.Coli infection so I had to have 5 shots of rosephin (sp?). Went back and she looked at it and it seemed to be about 95% closed. Odor was gone so I was feeling pretty good about it. Doc said to call if it wasn't 100% closed in a week. Two days later it opened up in 2 places so I went back for another culture. They said they'd call me in 3 days. Six days later I called the office and was told I have a different infection now. ??? Nurse couldn't pronounce it and I didn't have a pen on me at the time. I plan to call back tomorrow and get the name so I can google it. I was prescribed 7 days of Cipro. I'm just wondering what to do. This is the only OB office in town and I've already asked to see one of the other partners and was told they will not allow me to, that I'd have to go to another doctor. I've read alot online tonight about similar stories and am considering calling a wound care center tomorrow for a second opinion. I've had several people tell me I should file a malpractice law suit. I'm not too interested in that, but just want to be healed and feeling better. I feel like a walking infection and am just ready for this to be over with. Anyone have any advice? Similar situation? Thanks!

Given the risk (to your ob-gyn) of you filing a malpractice suit, I'm surprised they are not helping you out a little more.  I would take the Cipro as prescribed, and then also go to a general practice doctor (I think they are called Internal Medicine specialists), in other words, your family doctor, not your ob-gyn, and tell them what has been happening.  It might take an ob-gyn to sew up a C-section, but any doctor should be able to treat an infected incision.  He or she can also tell you if "it's just one of those things" with more credibility than the doctor who did the work in the first place.

Yes, I've been surprised as well that they have been so nonchalant about the whole thing. I'm requesting a copy of my records today and I've also called back to get clarity on what this second infection is called since the nurse couldn't tell me the other day. I also scheduled an appt at a Wound Care facility (I don't have a general practice doc) for Monday. Hopefully they can give me some answers and start the healing process. Thanks for your reply.

I just got clarification on the current infection. It's called Klebsiella Oxytoca. I googled it and it said if not treated aggressively it could lead to shock or death. So of course now I'm freaking out. Considering going to the ER instead of waiting for the wound center appt on Monday.

If you are taking the Cipro, I doubt there is more that the ER can do than what the doctor has done, along the lines of stopping the infection of course.  I think I've heard that Cipro is pretty strong.  I would certainly call your ob back and ask her why in the world everyone is being so casual about something so dangerous.
