CYSTIC HYGROMA INFANT

CYSTIC HYGROMA INFANT

Seeking information regarding the treatment, surgical options, and outcome of a one month old boy who was diagnosed with cystic hygroma at time of delievery (mouth/tongue/neck area) He is presently being tx. with doxycycline injections (two so far),has a trach and a GT.  Please let me know if this can be erradicated or if he will have this problem for life - can he develop the cysts in other parts of the body later on etc.  Thank you for any info you can offer -- very concerned mother

I'm sorry, I don't know much about these, and I'm sure you've done your own research on them but I did find that the outlook is good if they can remove ALL of the abnormal tissue and if it's not in the neck area. If it's in the neck it's harder to remove the tissue. I'm sorry your little one is having to go through this. I cannot imagine it is easy as a parent to see their child experience it, either. My thoughts are with you.
