Calling all MOMMIES!!!!!!!! HELP

Calling all MOMMIES!!!!!!!! HELP

Hey all,
I have a question.......
Talon is 8 months old and although I don't see that he is "constipated" I do see that he is close to it. His poop is hard and coming out much more formed now.
My pedi told me that he shouldn't have poop harder than mashed potatoes......ewwww... I know, he could have used a different description.....lol.
What can I give him (natural) to make it a bit thinner?
He only drinks MAYBE one ounce of juice (mixed with water) a day. He is just not a juice drinker.......He is not nursing as often because he is eating more and more solids........is it possible that he is on the edge of dehydration? He has about 4/5 wet diapers a day.......
He is also doing some major teething right now.........could it be from that?

HELP!!!
Also, he is cranky, cranky, cranky.......but I think that is mostly because of his teeth, or lack there of........I think he is going to cut 100 of them all at once.......Poor little man!!!
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Vikki

He may just have solid movements now due to the solid food.  It may not be constipation.  What types of foods is he eating???  I would keep nursing as much as you can.  I do not think he sounds dehydrated either.  I do not know what foods are good for this.  I always heard Karo syrup in bottles but I really do not know how good this is.  As far as teething mine is doing the same thing and driving me crazy with the crying.  I can't really help you there either.  I do wish you all the luck in the world.  It is really slow here on the weekends I am sure you will get many responses during the week.  Gotta go little man is screaming

Well teething can affect many things with babies even there stools, I would suggest some baby food prunes, apple juice, things like that to make him go.....
How much are you feeding him  Maybe he is too full from food and needs more breast milk this pamplet I have says 4-6 feedings of breast milk for 6-9 months of age(also says as your baby takes more solids feedings will decrease)

Okay, let me see if I can answer you both..........
He is eating mostly baby foods in the jar but we do go also with mashed potatoes.......mac and cheese (maybe two noodles).....
He is eating gerber cereal for breakfast mixed with juice and water......one jar of baby food at lunch.......one jar baby food at dinner (sometimes more, sometimes less, depends on his mood). He is still nursing at least 6 times a day. Sometimes because of hunger, sometimes for a comfort thing when he is going to sleep.
As far as teething.......Blondie, have you tried the Hyland Teething Tablets???? Alot of the moms on here sware by them and I am added to that list, they are wonderful and totaly homeopathic. I love them. If he has a fever then I will give him Tylenol instead but they really are great. I had to order then online and pay the shipping but they are well worth it!!!!!
Thank you both. I agree that it could be because he is eating more solids now. Just this past week he has really started "putting away" the food........LOL.

My son is 8 months old and eating 2 jars of baby food a day along with formula (couldn't breastfeed due to my heart medication) and doesn't have hard or formed stool. He usually has 6-7 wet diapers during the day.  When dd was a baby I would give her 2 oz of baby prune juice in 2 oz of water when she was constipated(sometimes I would even give it to her warmed up a little. I know warm prune juice sounds gross, but it seemed to work better)

Yes I have the Teething Tabs.  I have been giving him both the tablets and Tylenol mostly before bed and they do work really well.  I still can only think it is just because of the solid foods is why his stools are hardening.  I would maybe tell his pedi what you are feeding and see if he/she seems concerned.  My neice who is almost 10 months have had hard stools for a long time now.  Good Luck to you.

my ped suggested pedialyte in between meals and it seems to keep her regular. have you tried that?

Have you tried offering water?  Babies that eat solids need to drink more fluids.  I offer my daughter water more frequently when I think she's getting constipated and it always works.
