Can Clomid help with male infertility?

Hi. I am 31. My husband is 47. We have 2 problems. 1, I am getting my period, but it seems as if I am not Ovulating between periods, instead, when I should be, I start spotting. I am not sure why. Second, my husband has a extremely low sperm count and his motality ranges from 30% to 50% at very most. While I know Clomid could possibly help me, is there a way that it could also help bring his sperm to the egg better, once inside of me? He is afraid to take anything, but wants me to try this. Also because of his infertility issues, my doctor wants me to start at a higher dose than normal. We've discussed between 100mg to 150mg to start with since his doesn't have much left. and I have very few eggs left. I want to get pregnant as soon as possible. What is considered safe? Please, any advice is helpful since I see my OB with my decision on this in 3 weeks. If we don't conceive within the next 6 months, we won't be able to. I just want to make sure I am able to make it as healthy and give his sperm enough opportunity to get to the egg(s). Also, I heard Clomid makes it so that you have very little cervical mucus or that it dries up. If this is true, how will his sperm make it to the eggs?
