Can lump in breast be due to imending period

Hi Everyone.....a couple of wks ago I posted about getting false negative results( i am 6wks late LMP 1/16/09). Yesterday I finally took a Blood test, but at the same time I found a lump on my right breast. Im waiting for Insurance to approve a diagnostic mammagram. Im 39 yrs old. I can fee right now my right breast throbbing. I was wondering if anyones had a bump due to period being late(cyst in breast)..I really would like to hear some stories. I have 4 kids, 22, 21, 19 and 15, Im trying not to show them how scared I am.....

I know that they tell you not to do self exams within a week of your period since your breasts can feel different and can have lumps during that time. It is possible that the reason you are so late now is because of all of your stress. I hope everything turns out ok for you.

i discovered something very similar this year. Both my coworkers told me they had gone through the same thing, panicked, and found out it was just a cyst. Sure enough, that's exactly what my OB said it was. It gets bigger with hormone changes. He said it's harmless, but it it gets too uncomofrtable it can be drained. It was noticable for 2 cycles, and then faded away. i can still find it every now and then, but it's small and no longer uncomfortable.

Sometimes if you drink too much caffeine or have lots of caffeine intake, like soda, tea, chocolate, it can cause lumps that throb. I know that has nothing to do with your period but maybe one has nothing to do with the other. Get checked, it's always good to know for comfort. Also you may be going through menopause early??? It could be lots of things. Your doc will know best. God bless.
