Can progesterone increase make you feel sick....

by farahjane17, Jun 02, 2004 12:00AM
I am only 11 DPO, and on the 32 day of my cycle, but have felt sick when hungry for the last 4 days, fatigued, and my lower back has hurt.  My hcg levels can't be very high, so can increased progesterone cause symptoms like these?  I am not on any prog. medicine.

If so, why don't I feel this way every month?

Yes progesterone increase can make you feel sick....My symptoms usually get worse as the pregnancy goes on until about the 13 week when the progesterone levels start dropping...that is normal but you definatley have pregnancy symptoms- CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Thanks...I hope.  Then what is the difference between hcG and progesterone symptoms?

Progesterone levels keep increasing until the 12th week your body is producing a lot of it...it doubles every 48 hours and then at the start of your 13week the levels start to drop off. HCG is the "pregnancy hormone" that keeps the corpus luteum producing progesterone ...So I don't think there is a difference between the two they are all part of the same symptons...I hope this helps...

It does help.  It is all starting to make sense, but it has taken awhile.  So, that is why some women feel prg symptoms earlier than others.  Because their bodies are more sensitive to the progesterone.  Then, should my hcG levels be high if I am feeling sick from the increase of progesterone? Thanks for your time.

I know people say every pregnancy is different and I agree but with me I never got sick or really had any symptons of being pregnant other then missing my cycle on all three miscarriages. But with my daughter and now this pregnancy I have been getting shots of pregesterone and I've gotten sick both times...I start feeling it around 6 weeks and it gets worse as it goes.I was sick last time until the start of my 4 month. I would think your HCG levels are looking good because you are having strong symptons....yes your body may be more sensitive to the amount of progesterone it's producing compared to someone else.

i have not tested because I am only on the 11 day of my cycle.  REgardless of how long my cycle is, I thought I should not test until day 12 or 13...

I am a bit confused... when you say you are on day 11... did you start counting on the first day of your period??  On the average, a women ovulates day 14 and cycles are 28-29 days.  So if you say day 11- have you even ovulated yet?  How could you be pregnant?  I am confused?
I am taking prometrium (progestrone)and I wasn't even supposed to start taking it until 2-3 days after ovulation... continuing until I either start my period or week 13 of a pregnancy.
