Can you get ovarian cysts anytime during pregnancy???

by blondie72, Apr 09, 2004 12:00AM
Howdy to all.  Congrats Chloe on possibly a boy that is what they said at my u/s also.  Not 100% but maybe.

My question is about cysts.  I am having some sharp stabbing pains on my left side on the pelvic bone and it sometimes cramps down into the groin and upper thigh area.  I am 17 weeks and was wondering if I could have developed another cyst and if so can it cause m/c this late into pregnancy.  I had an u/s done on Thurs last week but nothing had been said.  I was just wondering.  It hurts.  It does not feel like a stretching pain or anything so I did not know for sure.  Well any comments would be nice if possible I know a lot of you are probably getting ready for the Easter holiday which I want to wish you all a safe and happy Easter.  Take Care to all and Thank You.  You have always been such a big help to me.

I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but women keep a cyst for so long in their pregnancy. At some point it should go away, but I do have a friend who had theirs to stay. It didn't cause any problems with the baby, but she did have to have it removed. I would not think you could develop one on into pregnancy, but I'm the queen of doing the "Unusual". My problem was cysts, so I hope I don't get any during this preg. Why don't you call the OB and just ask. It can't hurt and maybe it will make you feel better to talk to them. Sorry if I wasn't much help! Let us know what you find out!

I have never had problems with cysts or fribroids until now...during my first pregnancy.  Because of the pregnancy hormones, I have developed a small fibroid.  For some people the can get to be huge but mine is only 2cm.  I will be 23 weeks tomorrow.  I have some pain because of it but only because they pointed it out so now it is always on my mind.  As far as your pain goes, I have the same thing....it sounds like your ligaments and muscles are stretching.  Itis never on both sides at once though for me.  My right side will hurt one day and the it is the left another day.  I don't get it all the time though.

I agree with the others always always call your doc.  They really don't mind and hear similar things all the time and who cares even if they do mind, as long as you and your little one are ok and have piece of mind.  With that being said, I am 24 1/2 weeks along and have had similar pains myself, they hurt really bad and sometimes are very startling.  Its always disconcerting especially if you have had any problems before, but I have had them to and so far my doc has not been concerned.  Take care, Kirsten

I have nothing to offer because I have never been through or heard of it, but I wanted to say that I am sorry you are in pain!! I hope that it gets better. I know it's difficult to have this start on a long holiday weekend!!

i had a lot of cramping, stabbing pain in my first pregnancy, with no problems. i think a lot of those pains can be ligaments stretching etc. of course, i would see a doctor, but in my experience, pain in pregnancy is normal!!
good luck.
