I know many people run during pregnancy, I don't know the details, but I know you shouldn't do more than your body normaly does. I just saw a book at Barns n Noble called 'Running During Pregnancy' If you are wanting to run I would read something like that so you know your limitations. If your athletic you probably know when your body is telling you to stop, every part of your body works 50% harder during pregnancy, so just be careful.

Ive been told not to start any new activities or excercises after becoming pregnant, but if I had been carying on an activity or exercise regimen before I became pregnant.. it was okay to continue throughout the pregnancy within moderation for as long as there was no problems or additional concerns that came up while being pregnant.

I could be considered an athelete as I enjoy sports and especially love running.  I just found out I am pregnant and will continue to run throughout the summer just as I had with my first pregnacy- healthy pregnancy and healthy daughter.  I know you shouldnt run if you werent running prior to getting pregnant but if you were already it will be fine.  Just be safe and get a heart monitor and keep your heart rate to 140 beats per minute.  Have fun!

I suggest you ask your doc
every pregnancy is different
I am a marathoner - but was told I could not run at all beginning six weeks before I tried to get preggo!  (I had a miscarriage and my doc said running can decrease the hormones that sustaine pregnancy!)  so I quit running and delivered a healthy baby in December.  I have been running since but will quit next week again in order to get pregnant in 6 weeks.

Hello everybody. It has been some time since I have posted. I was wondering if anybody can tell me if running prohibits getting pregnant? I m/c Dec.1 and have taken up running since March of this year. The doctor told us to wait 3 cycles and then ttc. That was in March. My Mom and MIL both think that running and since I am over 35 is preventing us from a BFP. Please somebody anybody share any info you may have on this subject.
Thanks.

i ran 5 miles a day since i was 14.  I m/c.  The drs say it wasnt because of that.  This pregnancy I didnt run.  I think its all what you are comfortable w/.  its true not to start something new.  Some women run up to their 5th or 6th month.  I just couldnt do it mentally.  I'm sure w/ your drs advice and your health background you will be able to make that decision.  good luck.

I ran with my first pregnancy until my boobs began to hurt (sorry for tmi but its true) and stopped exercising with my second b/c I was spotting from the start.  Ended up MC wiht the second.  So with this pregnancy, I will do exactly what I did wiht my first.  You also will have a better rebound after delivery if you keep up exercising throughout.

I've been told you can run and job during pregnancy, especially if you always have done so.

I know that if you do run, job, or any type of excercise, that you're body heat shouldn't go above a certain degree.  I can't remember what that is right now, but in my book I have called, Pregnancy Week by Week (which I wish I could use, but am not pregnant yet).  It's an awesome book!

Absolutely NOT. Exercise keeps you healthy as long as your MD doesn't say you cant.

More fat in your body increases the chance of getting pregnant.  If you are exercising and burning fat, then of course your chances decrease.  But exercising while pregnant increases blood flow to the baby.  Just do it in moderation, stay well-hydrated, and make sure your heart rate (and hence the baby's heart rate) doesn't get too high.
