Car Seats - Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations on a car seat that's the next size up from newborn?  My son is about to grow out of his newborn one any day now.  Doesn't matter the cost, safety is number one.

i have an eddie bauer convertible carseat. i got it at target. it was like $80.00. if you have a newer vehicle, it worles great with the LATCH system both rear and forward facing. i'm suprised jayden is still in his infant seat, edward was too big for that by like 3 months. but i stuck it out til he was over 4 months. it was impossible to carry him in it anymore...

I will probably get the convertable Britax one.  My mom has that for Ethan right now...she did a bunch of research and chose that one.  But I havent done any research myself yet.

also, my mom has a graco convertible carseat for edward which she really likes. she likes hers better than mine of course, so you could look into the graco ones too...

Thanks, yeah, he's a little squashed right now but it holds him up to 22 lbs and 30 in. So he's borderline right now at 20 lbs and 29 in.  I have the Cicco one.  I couldn't carry him in it since he turned 3 months.  He's way too heavy.

I was going to get a Britax for Avery but then I found the Evenflo Triumph Advance DLX Convertible Car Seat-Sandbox. It was $150-I really like it! It got good safety reviews and you can check it out on Babies R Us . com It got 4 1/2 out of 5 stars and you can read actual consumer's opinions. I have never had any trouble with it. It is very easy to use and I love the straps. If you go to the website it is under Infant-toddler seats and it is on the first page- 3rd row down, on the right. It is quite bulky though but I have a big vehicle (Yukon). I posted this question awhile ago I will try to find it in the archives. Hope this helps!

I did a ton of research when looking for my first DD and I ended up getting a Britax!  The are ranked one of the safest out there. Two of my friends told me stories that helped with my decision. One said she had a britax when she got rear ended pretty bed and her daughter was not injured at all. The other friend, being my doctor helped out even more when it came to making my decision. Two of her friends, one had a britax and one had a graco, both rear ended and the one with the britax was fine, but the one with the graco wasn't so lucky, soooooo. I HTH;) I didn't care when it came to money as long as my DD is safe.

We also got the Evenflo Triumph Advance DLX - Convertible Car Seat.
My dh did a lot of research and this one got great ratings. I think it is pretty nice for the money spent. Not cheap, but not overly expensive either. Great for the person looking for a safe and comfy seat in the "median" price range.

i got the same one as gnicole- the evenflo triumph advance. i love it. it is big, but i have a tiny corolla and it's fine. it'll be a bit less squished when it's front facing. we're actually going to get another for dh's car today. i've had it for 2 months. there are cheaper evenflo triumph advances too. the price difference is in the padding and the fabric. the slightly pricier one also has a latch that's a bit easier to access.
i got http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3028987- it's $179, but we had a 20% off coupon (babies r us does take major competitor coupons)

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3028986 is $139 and has just as great user reviews.

BRITAX!  We have the Britax Marathon for both of our kiddos and they last up to 65 pounds.  Have you ever seen the video about kids in the booster seats - even with the backs on them- I saw the video and went out and bought the Britax Marathon for both of my kiddos and LOVE THEM. They are comfortable, easy to clean, and most of all, I know my kiddos are SUPER SAFE and that my daughter, who will be 6 in July, is still in a 5 point harness comfortably.  We moved my little guy to his immediately out of his infant seat.  He is 3 now and we've had these car seats for 2 years and they look BRAND NEW!  If you research for safety, Britax is very high up there and comes highly recommended by many. They are a little pricey however, I'll pay it for the safety!

I think I'm going to go with the Britax Marathon.  It's $269.99 but I don't care about the cost.  Thanks for everyone's recommendations.

hey kim- i checked out the link you posted cause we're going to get our second carseat. did you know it's only forward-facing and not convertible? just thought i'd let you know in case you were planning on using it before he turns 1. my dd is on the average/petite side and outgrew her infant carrier well before a year.

I have the britax marathon and I love it. It has great saftey features and is easy to install correctly. Definetly worth the money especially considering you will use it daily, although you can't put a price on safety!
