Chicken Pox and Pregnancy

by slimtuffit, Dec 27, 2003 12:00AM
I am about 5 weeks pregnant and my family is planning a visit this week.  Two of my nieces have the chicken pox and the rest of my family (along with my two nephews)have been exposed to it for the past week.  I had a mild case while I was a child and was curious if there is an immunization that I could get now to protect myself from it.  Can it harm the fetus?  What are my options?

You SHOULD be immune if you had it as a child.  If there is a question, you can go to your doc and have a titer drawn to see if you still are, or not.

Your Ob should be able to steer you in the right direction.  They get questions like this all the time. Good luck

You'll be reassured if you check in with your doctor. Good luck
