Chicken Pox and Pregnancy

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant with my second child. We all went to a birthday party yesterday and just got a phone call today to watch my 4 year old because one of the children had chicken pox as i am not worried about him he has has them i am worried about myself should i be safe from shingles if i have had the chicken pox already i heard pregnant people and chicken pox do not get along should i be worried??

If you already had them I am pretty sure that you should be fine. But I would check with your doctor becuase you dont want to mess around with that. I didn't know kids got chicken pox anymore don't they get shots for that? my kids did.

I'd call your doctor just to make sure.  It was very nice of those people to call and warn you b/c that stuff is nothing to joke around about.  Not trying to scare you.  Call the dr. GOod luck.

i teach and we recently had a case of chicken pox in the school. the nurse asked me if i have had them. apparently, as long as you've had it, you should be ok. my dr said the same thing when i asked in the beginning of the pregnancy.

and to answer luvmybabes, yes, cases still do surface, even in children who were immunized. where i worked last year, 2 children who had had the shot got them.

My nephew had them when I first got them and they asked the doc about it. The doc said I would be find if I'd already had them. Also, regarding the vaccine.....I think it's soooo worthless! Kids in my preschool class who had the vaccine get them in mild cases and then get them again. One child had 4 outbreaks (small ones) just during the school year! My baby's not getting it!!
