Hi. My 3 year old son has just started to break out with chicken pox...My girlfriend is almost 39 weeks pregnent and is being induced on Halloween, which is only 5 days away...Should we be concerned with bringing a newbornNewborn jaundice into any distancee of our chicken poxed son? Will our newbornNewborn jaundice be at risk to get chicken pox that young? Anything we can do? Thanks so much!
Very concerned father, Chris.
You need to bring this up with her doctor, both the OB and the new baby's pediatrician. There is a chance the baby could be protected by your girlfriend's antibodies, but I am not sure.
My two daughters had the chicken pox while I was pregnant with my twins. Since I already had the chicken pox, the doctor was not concerned because my body had antibodies. My twins are now 12 years old and they were born healthy at 6.5 and 5.7 pounds.
My brother had the chicken pox when I had my daughter (we lived together still). The doctor said just what the previous poster said that she was fine since I had the chicken pox when I was littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys her body had enough antibodies at birth to not get it.
