Hello. I was reading some past postings and was wondering if any of you wise womanWomen's way had some advice on my situation. I had my son 5 years ago and after that my ex husband and I decided we weren't going to have any children, so we opted for the IUD birth controlControl Control rx. About 6 months later it needed to be removed for complications. We have since divorced due to an affair and I have remarried. My new husband and I have been trying to concieve and 2 had a miscarriage. The doctors are unsure of why and I was thinking maybe it was because of the complications. Has anyone out there since had a successful pregnancy after majorMajor tears Major-gesic birth controlControl Control rx of the such. I am still in my late 20's and otherwise healthy. I know that he seriously wants children and I never thought this would cause such an issue.
I would think that your m/c have nothing to do with your complications from birth controlControl Control rx. I say this because you said Dr's are not sure why this is happening and if it were due to the complications (scar tissue, etc) I think dr's may have seen something. I think you may just want to chalk it up to bad luck. I do not mean to sound harsh but sometimes that is the case. I had a missed miscarriage in Sept of 03 and when they ran tests they found NO reason as to why it happened. They told me there was no infection or anything that sometimes these things just happen. I was able to get pg again just 3 months after my m/c and now have a handsome chunky little 6 month old. You are able to get pg which is a good sign. Keep trying and when it happens again let the dr know your history and hopefully they will be able to help you hold on to it. Good Luck and do not give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It'll happen for you like you said you are still young. Take Care
Not to be nosy- but what kind of complications? For instance, if it was something like scar tissue (which I think the IUD itself could possibly cause) then that may cause some trouble with your pregnancies. Have you asked your doctor about it?
I hate to impose once again on an open thread, but this is not life or death and I didnt want to try to open a new one. I just got back from the doctor. I am 35 weeks and 5 days. However, I am measuring 37 weeks. I asked her if this meant I would go earlier and she said not necessarily. She said it probably meant he was going to be really big and may be too big for me to deliver, meaning C section. What is the opinion of you ladies?
She did not mention inducing. It all completely caught me off guard. She just said if we got to my due date they would check the ultra sound to estimate how big and see about do a c section. I am hoping to go into labor before then anyway, but this has made me a bit nervous.
I would ask about inducing a little early if that is the case (hopefully you will go early anyway:^)--I have read some things about the "trauma" of birth actually being good for the baby (stress hormones give the lungs and other organs a boost, etc.)...and of course who wants have a c-section if its at all avoidable anyway? I would be nervous too. Surely they could monitor the baby to see when the size is approaching "undeliverable" and then induce. After 36 weeks the baby should be fine anyway, right? You know, the same thing happens to me almost every time I go to the doctor...I think of all my questions as soon as I'm gone. Good luck and let us know what happens.
I would think that the u/s would be much more accurate, so I would try not to get too worried about a c/s until then. Of course, I'm a natural worry wort so I know that is easier said then done! I agree with the other posts about inducing labor if in fact your little one is on the bigger side. That sounds like it would make much more sense then waiting and doing the c-section. Maybe your doctor is just being cautious and wants to be sure that your baby has developed enough??? Please keep us posted, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers!! Tricia
Hi, sorry t o hear about your losses. I am 21 due to the same thing you went through I had major damage to my uterus and with then 2 years and a couple losses I gave birth to healthy twins. I wish you the best.
I will ask about inducing next Monday when I go back to the doctor. It just never crossed my mind he would be really big. I guess they are right when they say you generally go through pregnancy the way your mom did. When my mom was pregnant with my brother she gained 65 pounds and he weighed 10 pounds at birth. I have gained 50 so far and they are saying he will be big. EEKK! We'll see. I would like to have him early, but you all can tell that if you have seen my posts the past couple of days. :)
Thank you for the words of encouragement. I think that also maybe I've been very stressed about this that I have not yet concieved, but hopeful that I will soon. I'm scared to the fact that my husband now will not want to be with me if I can not have his child. I am sure that every woman fears that. My doctor also tells me to keep trying and after a year if no results then they will do an ultrasound of my uterus and maybe fertility drugs. Though I fear with that, that I would end up having quintuplets.. ha ha. I haven't even held a baby in almost 6 years, I don't know what I would do with multiples. Anyways, back to my point. Thank you everyone for all your kind words. There's a difference from hearing the "pep talk" from your doctor then from hearing it from real woman. Best of luck everyone.
