Clean up the inside post delivery

Clean up the inside post delivery

Hi
We are a couple and we have had 2 children my wife is due for the third child in some time. Well she delivered our two children in a different place and she knew her gynacologist very well. Now we are at a different place and she wanted to know what is done after the child is out. Exact procedures,
I wish if someone could help. As she says that she had minimal bleeding and discomfort post pregnancy based on the procedures carried out by her doctor.
Help would be appreciated.

Hey, I am sorry to impose on this forum question, but once again, I could not start a new one.  My question is about the mucus plug.  What exactly does it look like?  I hope I dont get too gross....does it come out in one huge clump or can it be a little at a time?  Does it have to be pinkish or can it be clear?  I had extra discharge this morning twice when i wiped and it was gooey and clear.  Once again, SORRY SO GRAPHIC AND GROSS!  I have never done this before and would like to know from you ladies who have done this before.

As for the original post that i imposed on, i guess it depends on where you and your wife are delivering.  I would think she could ask her new doctor and he/she would be more than happy to tell you all the details. :)

I have had extra discharge the past few days too. Really thick and gooey. Looks like really thick snot! I am only 34 1/2 weeks so I hope it is not peices of my mucous plug! I never noticed it with my other 2. I have read it can come out in peices or one huge clump. Of course it would not hurt my feelings if he came at 37 or 38 weeks like my other one did. And he weighed 7lb4oz. I have also read it usually has a pink tinge to it but I am sure that differs also. Good luck! You are a little over a week ahead of me aren't you? Danielle

I am 35 weeks 4 days.  I will be 36 weeks on Thursday.  I am ready for him to get here.  I was just curious because I have not had this thick of discharge before.  You are right, snotty looking EWWWWWW!  I have a doctor's appt tomorrow so I will ask then.  I was hoping I would get someone who would say, "YES, that is it!  You should have him soon!!"  I am so uncomfortable lately.  I want to have him Easter weekend.  We'll see if he cooperates.  :)

I hope so too.  I dont know though, a girl here at work is 5 days past due.  That is making me worry!  If he is born Easter weekend, he will be born on DH bday!  That would be fun.

Well, i am just so anxious.  I dont really want him to come now.  I want him to be here in 2 weeks.  That will make him 2 weeks early.  We'll see.

I was hoping it was the plug, but i doubt it.  I have been gettin menstral like cramps for about the past week with minor back ache, so we will wait and see.  Like I have said before, this is our first, so we have no idea what to expect.  We have our last prenatal class tonight, I dont know if i have learned how to prepare for labor or not.  Breath in 2, 3 out 2, 3.  Ladies, does it really work?

Not to snub you or anything....Your best bet (unless one of the nurses from L&D come on to help you) would be to go to Google.com or another search site to see if that may help.  I always thought they checked vitals on the baby, did the apgar test, put drops in their eyes (cannot remember why) and I am sure there are other things.  I am not sure what they do when they take them away to the nursery.  Now for the mom unless you have a C section (which I know NOTHING about) I think they just deliver baby and stitch you up if you had an episiotomy or you tear and that is all I remember having done.  Good Luck hopefully someone else will help you better.  Take Care.

My mucus plug looked like thick snot and was not colored at all (with both pregnancies).  It just looked like someone blew their nose in my pants.  However, with both of mine, it was still weeks before delivery.  I dilated very early and was dilated to 5 before real labor.  It can sometimes be a sign of oncoming labor, or it can still be a while to wait.

Wow, they were real graphic descriptions!! tee hee!  From my own personal experience only, the plug is thick and mucusy, but also pinkish in colour, like watered down blood, just for your info, but I am not sure whether this varies from person to person, is usually passed in one lump too, or was in both my baby's cases.  Good luck.

HI,
I am 38 weeks tomorrow and have too been passing lots of clear mucus and have had lower back cramps and pain. I go back to dr. tomorrow and am curious to see if I have dialted anymore. Last week she said I was a "loose 1" if that means anything.. I too am hoping for an Easter little boy. My actual dd is March 31... Keep me posted.

I am sure I wont have him when I want to.  I am pretty sure it will be closer to my due date, i just dont want him to come later.  I also go to the doctor today.  I have to go have a non stress test and then see the doctor.  I am hoping that I will be on my way sooner than later!  Good luck.
