I have some questions about Clomid. I've recently discovered this drug thru research online and couple of womenWomen's way here on this forum. I know ultimately I'll have to take this up with my doctor to see if I should get on it, but want to get some opinions from you girls who have taken it.
Of those who have taken it, did you get pregnant shortly after? And did you exp. a miscarriage? What are some side effects to expect? How successful is the drug? Did you or anyone you know taking Clomid get pregnant with twins or more?
Even though I'm young (21) and have had only one pregnancy which did result in a missed miscarriage, I might not even have any fertility problems, but am just too anxious to get pregnant again. I am ready to be a mom. And I'm now considering trying Clomid to speed up the process.
Hi!!! My best friend had to take clomid to get pregnant with each of her 3 kids. They are all almost exactly 2 years apart, so it didn't take her long to get pregnant on it, she had no miscarriages and they were all single births. Good Luck!! Ginger
I have taken clomid 2 times and have had 2 hormone shots with it to help it out and artificial insemenation 2 times. The first time I took clomid it worked pretty good. It gave me a few mature folicules a few days later we had the IUI done and it didn't work. The second time I did clomid it helped produce 2 LARGE mature folicules. My doctor thought that I was gonna get pregnant for sure and probably with twin, but unfortunately it didn't work. That was just last month. I have what they call unexplained infertility. There is NOTHING wrong with my husband nor my self. We have been trying for right at 3 years now and no luck. The clomid just gave me a headache and it make me feel yuckie all day. Kind of like I was gonna throw up a lil. If I am not mistaken there is only a 10% chance of having twins when on clomid. It just depends on what dosage you take and how your body responds to it.
Clomid works differently for everybody!!! Good luck!!!!
Thanks for sharing. And about you having unexplained infertility, I want to share a story with you. A couple I know have been TTC for SEVERAL years (about the same as you, if not LONGER). They married about 4yrs ago and are prob. 34-35 yrs old now. They went to all kinds of fertility docs and tried all types of things and were still unsuccessful. It was devasting for her and after so many years of receiving NO information about what could be wrong, so they decided to just give up and not try anymore (this was beginning of this year) Well, she conceived in April and is now due in January04!
It's odd to see that the minute she stopped trying so hard is when she conceived. I know many people who tell this story or about a woman who adopts and then gets pregnant, but this is a true story. She's had a healthy pregnancy so far and didn't use any fertility drugs to conceive, it was a natural conception. I just want you to know that.
There's no answer as to WHY two people compelelty healthy do not conceive over a long period of time. But it doesn't mean you never will. I hope the best for you and I'm sure your time is soon to come (as you've been on this journey for some time). ;o)
Hi I took Clomid because of anovulation after coming off the pill. It took me 4 months (200 mg) before I ovulated and I got pregnant on the 5th cycle. I am 6w2d now! Clomid can have some not so fun side effects....hot flashes and MAJOR moddiness!!! Also there is a risk of hyperstimulation of ovaries so you have to be seen every month and they check to make sure your ovaries aren't enlarged. For me the risks were worth it. And as far as twins...normal chances are 1 in 80 clomid raises those chances to 1 in 20. Hope this helps!!!
